The 'Linux Steam Integration' project has a fresh minor release out
16 Jan 2019 at 5:12 pm UTC

If you want more information on how it works: https://github.com/clearlinux/linux-steam-integration/blob/master/TECHNICAL.md [External Link]

so how can I use this on Debian or Ubuntu?
For the time being, you have to build it yourself or wait for the snap release.

An updated Steam Client is out, should be more responsive when downloading

This sounds great, but the issue with the "Configuration Support" for controllers [External Link] is still a bit annoying, makes the feature itself useless and some controllers like the Nintendo Switch Pro unusable.

How to enable Steam Play (Proton) directly in SteamOS
9 Jan 2019 at 4:50 pm UTC Likes: 1

After enabling the SteamOS Beta and Proton, I discovered that many games, such as GTA V or Slender: The Arrival, which required things such as mscorefonts or other various dependencies, along with special launch commands, worked right out of the box with minimal bugs on SteamOS!
I do not think this is specific to SteamOS, but rather because corefonts is included in Proton since version 3.16-4 [External Link].

Thanks for this How-To anyway!

NVIDIA released the 415.22.01 Vulkan driver

I really don't think tearing is a driver bug (unless you can prove it). It's most likely due to a misfiguration somewhere. For exemple, you have to enable PRIME Sync [External Link] if you are using an Optimus (Intel+NVIDIA GPU) laptop.
And on desktop, I never had any tearing problem.

Quoting: Leeo97oneI think the issue is more related to DXVK than to Unity. Because the affected games work if I disable DXVK on Steam with:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
It's definitely related to new drivers. Yesterday I could comfortably play The Room 2 and it worked just fine, then after installing new drivers "GetThreadContext failed". There was no game update, no Proton update, no Steam update... only drivers changed.
Of course, this is a driver issue, but I meant that the error occurs in all DirectX 10/11 games using DXVK, Unity or not.
But never mind, I was wrong because I tested with a non-Unity game like GTA V and it works fine with DXVK.
