Hmmm, never consideed myself to be a hard core gamer, but while the Android/IOS versions of this game are nuggets-hard (to encourage micro-transactions), I've always thought the Linux versions to be fair and perfectly balanced. I ran a series of ( admittedly awful) YouTube videos on how to beat each level. Maybe someone will find it useful. I'll link to the series later... on the mobile right now and it's too much hassle.

Can't wait! I love these games - they're the best TD games out there!

But as someone else noted, Perks don't sync in that game for us. This bug [External Link] is the cause and it doesn't sound like a fix is coming any time soon. I bought Killing Floor 2, tested it, confirmed the networking bug and refunded it same day. Looking forward to buying it again one day though. Although, part of me feels like boycotting Tripwire after all their "we will support Linux" bullshit, then silently dropping that support when their single, irreplaceable (apparently) Linux dev left...

Quoting: g000hAs someone else noted, it's worth trying the proper driver - Proton requires 396.54 now - that might fix your graphical headaches. Certainly, the game looked and performed brilliantly when I tried it.Quoting: GuestHave you tried Killing Floor 2 yet? Eager to know how that runs since I dual-boot to play that game ALOT, would be great having it run flawlessly on Linux seeing as how Tripwire never gave us that native port they promised.I'm having a go trying Killing Floor 2 on Proton right now. Note that there is every possibility that if it works for me then it won't work for you, and vice versa. Anyone else want a try - It is a 23GB download (tsk).
In-fact I feel Tripwire should work with Valve to help KF2 work good under proton, feel like it's the least they could do after failing to keep their promise of a native linux port
Okay, well GOOD NEWS. Off the bat, no tweaking, it worked okay on my Debian Buster, Ryzen 5, GTX 1080ti, Nvidia driver 390.87 system. I try to run all my games at 4K resolution (3860x2160) and it was working at that res, but it seemed the frame-rate or responsiveness was a bit off, so I did get fiddling around with command-lines and graphics settings.

Hmm - Spelunky, Castle Crashers and The Witness all stand out for me. But I don't have much time for Johnathan Blow after his various ill-informed/biased comments on Linux. Not interested in supporting that guy, especially not priced at £30.
Might buy the first two though, or at least stick them on a wishlist. They're both around the tenner mark, so might be worth it for a slow-game day.

Yeah, between Prey, Doom and now Descent, it's all becoming a bit of a mystery what games are being talked about.
I guess we need a Quake revival, just for completeness.

I haven't bought a Windows game in 2013 until recently. I bought Doom because it's "officially" supported, and cheap, so it felt like a good way to test the official Proton support.
I also bought the Humble Monthly for Overwatch because I can't see "The Three Bees" (Blizzard, Bethesda, Bioware) ever supporting Linux directly, sadly. The Humble Monthly felt like a good way to get a decent game without supporting the concept of a Windows sale.
Beyond that, I can't imagine buying any titles based on Wine/Proton. I really, really want Nier:Automata, for example, but I won't touch it thanks to its DRM (Denuvo), despite its official status in Proton.

And here's me hoping that he was working on this [External Link]. But seriously, delighted for him if this all works out and very excited to see the future of Proton and what it will bring the platform.

This game is one of my PIN candidates (the next PIN is coming soon). It's a great game that I completed multiple times due to the differences in each "species" of ship. Human's have big bulky blocks and rely on heavy thrusters, while other species might be shield-heavy, or offer dense, light materials, but only in odd shapes. Makes for some really distinctive designs during each playthrough. And the combat is really satisfying, once you settle on a control method that suits you (the game offers three different mechanisms to suit your play style).
Great game.
