The Original Wasteland RPG Will Come To Linux

I didn't expect that to be honest. Good news. Looking forward to playing that too - Wasteland and Shadowruns were two of the first projects I helped Kickstart!

Dark Matter 2.5D Survival Horror Now On Steam For Linux

That was some of the best voice acting I've heard in ages. That trailer gave me the chills. Dublin beckons this weekend, but I think I'm buying this for my return. Superb.

Shadowrun Returns Is Now In Beta For Linux

Well that's us live now (and it's been live for about 17 hours now) : http://steamcommunity.com/app/234650/discussions/0/810938082707457467/?insideModal=1#c810938807833460026 [External Link]

Obviously, it's still in beta though, so if there's any issues, feed them back to the Devs.

Quoting: Quote from lainiwakujust finished it 2 days ago, on windows, too late linux ....
I've started taking a real hard line on using Windows over the past six months or so, and as of August this year, gave it up completely. I might still boot into Windows in the future, perhaps for Thief 4 if reviews show that it lives up to its legacy, but you know, I might not. There's so many awesome games coming along on Ubuntu now that I'm not sure I'll bother.

Shadowrun Returns Is Now In Beta For Linux

It's not available yet anyway on our platform yet, as it turns out. Lots of folk complaining that it's not actually downloading anything, even after the beta is enabled. One or two reports of success, but the majority are locked out. Apparently down to "propogation issues" which may just sort themselves out over the next day or two. Fingers crossed.

That's a compelling argument you make there. However, it would seem 170 positive reviews on Metacritic by players would disagree. Even the press swayed in favour of 8's and 9's with a few mixed bags thrown in, as is a critic's want. But not a single negagive critics review - that's pretty impressive.

I'm gonna give it a chance.

It really feels like this game isn't coming... I read somewhere that it's sales weren't so good, which is likely why the Linux release is delayed. I was certain they said it would come out months ago. I hope it does come out for Linux though, I really do.

Funnily enough I was on SteamDB earlier today and noticed that Painkiller just updated its linux build. I guess you never know, right? Fingers crossed - I'd like to play it, and I long ago stopped buying games until they have their little penguin logo on Steam. :)

Red Orchestra 2 And Tripwire's Future Titles To Come To Linux
7 Oct 2013 at 12:38 pm UTC

I've played about 230 hours of KF now, about 40 of those on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit with a GTX670. I was getting all those bugs initially. I played a bit over the weekend and nearly all of them are resolved... kind of. I say kind of because for 6 waves, everything was perfect. Then something glitched during wave 7... like a v-sync hiccup, and suddenly some of the textures were missing again.

The only level it bothers me though is West London, where most of the ground textures are missing. Office is missing ground texture too, but only in the car park, so you rarely see it (the car park is a death trap best avoided, at least on Hard/Nightmare modes). A few pipes lose their texture. And are you still getting the crossbow texture error? That was fixed months ago, I thought.

With the exception of the crossbow scope, it's hardly making the game unplayable though. A distraction at worst.

And I'll say it again, it seems odd to pour derision on a developer's attempts to release for your platform because an ancient, badly ported game doesn't work too well on your system. I find that attitude incredibly frustrating. Now imagine if I was the said developer. Frustrating AND demotivating.

Quoting: Quote from QydfacThere port of KF is horrific (nvidia texture bugs and low fps)

I'm worried.
Their port wasn't theirs, technically. I believe it was ported after the fact by Icculus? Not sure that you should be worried about more support for linux rather than none at all. I'll take AAA games with a few texture errors over no AAA games, myself.

Arma Tactics Turn Based Strategy Is Now Available On Linux
4 Oct 2013 at 10:20 am UTC

That's it finally got its linux badge on Steam now (it showed up yesterday, here in the UK). If I wasn't knee deep in Mark of the Ninja, I'd have bought it already. Maybe one for next weekend though.

Audiosurf Air music game (Audiosurf 2) is coming to Linux!

Quoting: Quote from muntdefemsI could certainly be the puzzler-platformers' advocate (the more retro and pixelated the better :P) but I honestly think two weekly columns are enough...

For instance, I'd love to write a little piece about this (Unity3D-made) little marvel [External Link] I discovered a couple of days ago thanks to the LGC [External Link]. Maybe I'll do it on Monday. ^_^
I discovered this one yesterday... not sure how? Not on Steam, maybe? Anyway, looks amazing :

And yeah, Life Goes On looks superb too. Like a mix of Rogue Legacy and Trine!
