I'd have bought it anyway eventually to play it with Proton. That it runs natively and I can support Feral with it - the better. But I won't buy it in the near future. My gaming backlog is just too big for that.
Google have confirmed the Stadia launch date is November 19

I also ordered a Founders Edition. Already on 18 June. I am curious whether I will get my order directly on November 19th or later.
It doesn't work with the classic Chromacast, by the way. Because of the required bandwidth there is the Chromecast Ultra with Ethernet interface. The Chromecast Ultra is included in the Founders Edition or the now available Premiere Edition and required for operation from a TV.
You can play on your PC or laptop with the Google Chrome Browser. I don't know if Chromium works.
Concerning the smartphones: First the Google Pixel 3 and higher devices will get a Stadia support. In the long run, more smartphones and tablets with Chrome OS will be added. But there are no time specifications for this.
By the way, I am happy that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a launch title from Stadia. From November 19th I will make the Wild West wild. :) Without Windows. :)
EDIT
I looked it up. The announcement of the Founders Edition was on 06 June. Therefore I should have already big chances with my pre-order on June 18th to be considered directly as the first.

It's nice to see that Valve is constantly developing Proton's capabilities.
Too bad that we don't hear anything new about Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) yet. Many multiplayer titles won't be listed as "Borked" in the ProtonDB database until the support exists.
I also hope that we won't wait here in vain. The long silence to the topic lets me doubt slowly ...

I already sunk 81 hours on the game. And there is so much more possible now after the Beyond-Update. I might double the time. :)

This throws a completely different light on the job advertisement of Codeweavers at the beginning of September ...

To see the magnitude of the loss to the open source community, you just have to see how many contributions he recently made to the Wine development:

Whew ... We don't have the words. Much too early. 28 years are no age at which one should go.
Thanks for your work for the Open Source Community. In this work you will live on forever!

While the Padoka Stable PPA currently comes with Mesa 19.1.2,
-> https://launchpad.net/~paulo-miguel-dias/+archives/ubuntu/pkppa [External Link]
brings along the ACO PPA Mesa 19.2-devel. ACO is also experimental.

Currently even the first entries with Mesa 19.3.0-devel are already in the ACO-github.
Maybe I should do a counter-test with the Padoak unstable PPA. This is already compiled against Mesa 19.2-devel:
-> https://launchpad.net/~paulo-miguel-dias/+archive/ubuntu/mesa [External Link]
Maybe it's not just the shaders but the Mesa level.

Quoting: mylkaThe difference is greater.Quoting: KuJoI'm playing it on an AMD rx580 with Valve's ACO drivers.i think valves mesa is the same as padoka except it uses ACO shader compiler as default
you can still force LLVM as default. i think it should be like using padoka and crash again.
ACO can be disabled with the following environment variable: RADV_PERFTEST=llvm
anyways... i hope they make a free weekend soon. i kinda wanna try it myself

I'm playing it on an AMD rx580 with Valve's ACO drivers.
Before I had to set the tessellation quality in the settings (file ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/No Man's Sky/Binaries/SETTINGS/TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML ) to "Low" with the Padoka Stable PPA to play it. Otherwise I had a crash to desktop right after the loading screen.
I first read at Reddit that you don't have to use this tweak if you use the ACO shader driver from Valve. I tried this, uninstalled Padoka Stable PPA and installed the ACO PPA (already ready for Ubuntu; and I use Linux MInt). And since then it runs with all settings on "High" at just over 60 fps.
I wrote down my experiences at Reddit and in the Proton-Github:

I also made an entry in the ProtonDB with the reference to the ACO driver.
