Comedy adventure Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! HD is now out with Linux support

I believe you posted some recommended tweaks in the past for another game that uses this engine, but here is what I did:

Find the game's configuration and save game location (for me it was ~/.local/share/ags/Nelly Cootalot Spoonbeaks Ahoy) and edit acsetup.cfg to add under graphics:
screen_def=explicit
screen_height=1080
screen_width=1920

(or your preferred resolution) and under mouse:
speed=1.500000
(or some value higher than the painful default of 1.00)

Quoting: stretch611I'm a big fan of the game. (My Steam review [External Link])

On the hope that the developer revisits the forums here on GoL, let me ask this question... With a name of
Dapper Penguin Studios
, are you actually developing directly on linux at all? (Don't worry, despite being a linux site, we are happy you support us, and will not think negatively of you if you say no.)
FWIW, I would encourage you to mention Linux in your future reviews. In this case the developer actually read it so it could have been great for that added visibility. Plus, it's always nice to read the experience of other Linux users.

I beta tested this and have had 0 problems, though apparently others on ubuntu (maybe just 1 based on the quote above) did have some issues.

Also, this is only on Steam and so it's not counting Humble Store where it's also sold.
That makes me wonder how a Steam key activation is counted
Unfortunately, they are not. I asked a developer friend (just yesterday I finally got an answer) and Steamworks shows very little information about keys. Apparently, just total activation and geographic spread of those activations.

Editorial: An open letter to Valve on why they should keep on embracing Linux

Simply put: you should lower your take by 1-2% for anyone that puts up a game on steam with an officially supported Linux version.
Yes, yes, yes. I have been saying this (admittedly, to myself) for a while now. If Valve really wanted to push Linux, they would take a smaller cut from developers that release native games for us.

I really enjoyed Project Highrise. I also ran into this "second run" issue but it resolved for me from this forum post:

The beautifully weird hidden object adventure game My Brother Rabbit is out, it's really sweet

This does look interesting, however *Artifex Mundi* bundle their games so quickly. I wonder why they do not offer better discounts on Steam instead.

I guess they do get platform usage feedback from all those keys they sell through bundles though, I do appreciate they continue to support Linux.

(I own 53/61 of their Steam releases - all through bundles where cost per game is under $1)

Talking point: Leaving user reviews for Linux games can really help a developer
9 Aug 2018 at 8:10 pm UTC Likes: 3

I started leaving reviews for almost all games I play now for precisely this reason. Though, do be prepared for some trolls in the toxic Windows community to leave annoying comments - I still am not sure if the best course of action is to delete those comments (which I have been doing) or to leave them there as evidence of their toxicity.

That being said, I use a modified format from Steam user headless_cyborg. I write a short paragraph about my thoughts, and add in some details in the table, here is my modified template:

Sailing the ocean blue and dealing with pirates, some thoughts on The Caribbean Sail

I was introduced to this game early on, and have watched it grow. I find it to be quite a nice little gem, and continue going back to it for more when that casual urge strikes me.

Play It Now - Gunpoint

Quoting: Sudo_haltGunpoint? hell yes, this game is one of my best games of all time, on ANY platform.

If anybody has any doubt on buying the game -- just buy it. Trust me.

Remember to also play other games from SDs, such as Heat Signature. That game is also awesome.
Gunpoint is a great game, I just recently played it. If Heat Signature was available for Linux, I would have already purchased it!
