Disclaimer - "I hate F1"
I truly do. But I played this on android and it was a source of much fun and I was surprised to find myself playing just one more race to help my race team become one of the "greats".
The lack of detailed graphics was not a problem for me.
I have not played the PC version yet, but on the back of my experience using the mobile version, and with the knowledge that the PC version brings much more than the mobile game, I would heartily recommend this game.
The mobile version does have an advantage though: I could play it when I was doing pit-stops in my office lavatory.

I waited for 1.0, but since then have piled an insane number of hours (for a dad) into this game.
Its so good to see that they persevered despite early criticism with their game.
Easily in my top 10 games...

I like that. As twisted and complicated as making 100 dwarves content.
On a side note, would DF run on an Ubuntu Phone? I suppose it doesn't run on ARM devices?

wow great news. I have left this to the side, but usually keep an eye on the news and updates. My last fortresses were great, but having mined too much underground without supporting pillars, the whole thing collapsed, sending my computer in a coma.
I also remember trying to run a fortress on an eepc 701, with 512 gb of ram, and a puny processor, good times.
I wish that game would run on mobile phones.

Amazing Game! 3 hours in. Not finished but saving the end for tomorrow.
Fixed the case sensitivity issue, had the game crash 3 times, and also I restarted it twice because of memory leaks, was at 11fps...
Still I really enjoyed the game so far, one has a real empathy for the Henry.
Would recommend 10/10. Short and sweet.

I agree that Dwarf Fortress is an acquired taste, if a proper skin came out for the game I am sure it would wipe the floor....
I was not aware of the OpenXCOM project, I will give it a go. I have played quite a lot of UFO Alien Invasion, but I suppose that that version is not as challenging as the original Xcom.

Ah divinity!
Still I was disappointed that I could not chose 3 games per category, I felt a bit ruthless at times...
Congrats to the winners. If you did not make it does not mean your game was not appreciated, I actually enjoyed some great games here that I did not vote for.
EDIT - noticed that dwarf fortres did not make it...Oh well....Still, worthy win for 0AD.

Great, I have already clocked up 100 hours on this on windows, looking forward to not swapping my hard drives...
I'll buy all the DLC.

Looks like Total War: Rome II might not be coming to Linux & SteamOS now

Well said!. I have the same rig, and Attila plays fine! I'm over the moon
I also agree that the earlier period of Rome Total War 2 would have been better. Unfortunately, Rome 2 is a bit of a mess...
Now for the jewel in the crown: Total War Shogun 2!

Well, it's an interesting personal insight, I notice that you are leaning heavily onto the AAA production, which is fair enough if that is what rocks your boat.
One question I would have though, oblivious of platform, what games would you have waited for in general, windows games that is? Are there hundreds?
Personally, I find that the output of games coming out is too big for me to follow, and I have plenty on my plate.
Whether that is enough to convert someone coming from Windows? I don't know...but I am really happy that I actually only need to boot into windows to play a very small selection of multiplayer games...All my solo needs and most of my multiplayer needs are on Linux.
Come on Divinity & Rocket League ports, I am waiting eagerly...
