Clockwork Empires City Builder Linux Build Due Soon

I am sure that was a light humoured comment.
I for one will be one the first to buy once the Linux build is out.
At present the word is that the game is not that entertaining due to clunky controls, some bugs and a general lack of direction, however, given the track record of the development team with their other games , I am sure that the game will be regularly updated and will get much better.
Good times ahead. Remember you are buying an early access game.

Quoting: milliamsIt should be noted that "KDE" is not a "Desktop Environment", it's a team of developers. The desktop environment is called "Plasma" and has been for 6 years.Interesting, this is the first time I have come across this. Thanks for the clarification.

Quoting: SslaxxHaha, Bethesda is certainly not my favourite studio, but I do love their Elders Scrolls and the game licences they ended up with...Quoting: OZSeafordIf only Bethesda could work with Aspyr.About as likely as Bethesda working with GOG...
Is that a snowball in hell?

Game Saves Are Messing Up Our Drives!

This article is very pertinent.
Sure, maybe someone will come up with a save game export tool like Window's GameSave Manager, but that will not only backup the save games to one place, but will leave all the original saves messing up the different save folders.
It would be nice to have a solution upstream that prevents save games fragmenting the file system.

Quoting: dean36963Last time this annoyed me I moved the startup script/binary and replaced it with a bash script. If this works, that is a great solution. I will try it at home.
This script does an "export HOME=/path/to/clean/location" and ran the script/binary that usually gets run, and passes any arguments.
Means you don't need to rely on any devs fixing this.
Steam might clean your script when updating the game though.

Also reminded me I really need Rust, Far Sky and Flashout 2. I had lots of fun on wipeout, so will be a good trip down memory lane.

Dwarf Fortress Sees First New Release In 2 Years

Please read these articles by established mainstream press to just see the awsomeness of Dwarf Fortress:
This game is a labour of love....
And no so hard to get into. If you want to give it a go, I suggest that you watch one or two DarkDuck youtube tutorials.
If you really don't like the ASCII graphics, you can install TileSets, that improve visuals. There are even some for Linux: Lazy Noob Pack [External Link]. Note that it seems you may have to find another source as the maintenance of that package is out of date. It will still work with previous versions of Dwarf Fortress.
Read some of the lore... Google Dwarf Fortress Comics, Boatmurdered, etc... go on the forum. There is such a great community. It is easy to loose oneself in it. The good thing is that this is a gem that is in for the long run.
And lastly, I always suggest to newcomers to the game to cap the population of dwarves to 20. This is easily done: edit data/init/d_init.txt and change the value of this line:
[POPULATION_CAP:200]. You will thank me for that, as beyond thatm, you will not know what is happening as there will be so many dwarves...
One guy even played the game with just ONE dwarf: One Dwarf at a time [External Link]
