Diablo 4 on Steam Deck is quite magnificent (and desktop Linux too!)

A thing I have noticed about Battle.net is that when you are prompted to log in on Steam Deck, it actually opens the on-screen keyboard automatically when you focus the boxes. And the user/pass boxes actually nudge up to be above the keyboard. This is significant, because as far as I know, this is something that an application has to initiate manually by using Steamworks, not some happy crossover of standards or something.

Sorry for the bad phone picture, but this is what I mean. Someone at Blizz had to make this happen on purpose.

Get Battle.net, EA, Epic Games and more on Steam Deck the easy way

This works quite well, but it uses GE-proton-custom I believe to do the installs. It's easy enough to change afterwards though, just by changing the individual compatibility settings from within Steam.

One thing it does well that I wish more tutorials would show when installing non-Steam stuff, is it uses the STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH variable. Very useful for keeping things easy to manage.

I have seen so many tutorials from popular YouTubers that go one step worse even. They show people to add the installer to Steam, then running it, which creates a prefix, and then adding the exe for the launcher to Steam separately, which results in ANOTHER prefix being created. Instead of just, ya know, editing the exe location in the existing entry.

Is this for real? You do know that this is designed to kill people, not in a cs-fashion but for real. And all with the currently f'ed up narrative and politics, you are cracking jokes with it.

I can not believe this, what a shame.

They very clearly said specifically the Steam Deck.
They did, but do we have information yet that Steam is displaying that information to developers?
As mentioned in the video they can see the hardware used.

Awww, my YouTube video on how to work around and fix the cloud save bug was getting such good mileage. :P Oh well, at least I have taught a few newbies how to make symlinks, so not all lost.

A Proton Hotfix update has just been pushed with a fix for the Dead Space map issue. It also addresses a minor performance issue where the game's usage of Variable-Rate Shading was being ignored.

Another "stupid" game I can recommend that plays nicely on Deck (and it's native even) is Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians. Deck seems like a good place to play this sort of thing. Now if only Valve can hurry up and do the Bluetooth audio latency fix so I can use my new buds.

Quoting: neffoI the only person who has Steam Big Picture running very slowly (like 10 fps) on Desktop Linux ... though it's fine in games though?

I've not seen anyone else mention it but I can't work out what it is.
New Big Picture Mode is also still terribly buggy and slow on NVIDIA when trying it on Desktop, pretty much unusable. Hopefully Valve or NVIDIA can solve that.
