Quoting: reaVerEDIT: oh and also, gamergate found something: http://archive.is/tLs2H#selection-2587.0-2627.80 [External Link]Gamergate "found" nothing. How the $450k was arrived at is explained by the developer themselves in the Gamasutra article, including that the amount assumes full price, and they have figures for the discounted sales in there too. Get off the GG train - they are anti-games, anti-gamer, anti-developer, anti-progress. There's no hoax or scandal here on the part of the developer.
Seems to be a hoax up to some degree.

Quoting: drmothI think cross-platform development is pretty foreign to a lot of developers, because really they could automate Linux builds if they were smartIn this case though it shouldn't be since lead developer Nicholas Vining used to work for Loki. They've also been getting help from Ryan Gordon.

Quoting: 0ttmanI am a developer with a game on Steam. I have created thousands of keys thus far for various things. Never encountered any limit.Quoting: rustybroomhandleI know a Developer creating a game they said Valve will only give them 500 steam keys.Quoting: linuxgamerIs it worth it? The devs don't get (unlimited?) "free" steam copies or do they?A dev can request as many keys for their game as desired.

Quoting: linuxgamerPerhaps. In the developer's stats panel, sales are separated into "Steam purchases" and "retail activations". The latter being any other place where you can get a Steam key - Humble, GoG, bundles, giveaways, store purchases, etc. This is why they are not limited - Valve is just happy to have people on their platform.Quoting: rustybroomhandleThat's an invitation for abuse. They could create as many non-steam copies of their games as they like anyway (for testing and promotion purpose).Quoting: linuxgamerIs it worth it? The devs don't get (unlimited?) There is quite a bit of grinding though, but not of the WoW-like variety (ie, repeating dungeon runs/raids to get gear drops etc.). It's more because the economy is player-managed, all gear is crafted, materials have to be gathered etc. It's grinding, but of the more leisurely variety.

Quoting: ShmerlWhen I played it was quite roleplay heavy with events frequently hosted by players. There were also a number of high level players just hanging around the starter area to help new players out.Quoting: toorThis game has the best community I have ever seen. People are helpful and matureBut is into roleplaying or into mindless hack-n-slash / grinding? For instance WoW is the later.
