Quoting: mihaibI am a bit curious on what this power options actually do to the system... I can't seem to find a explanation on the web. I mean what actualy does it tweak/set to achieve this.

Maybe one of these has the info you seek?

Linux vendor System76 releases the Pangolin, a full AMD laptop
17 March 2021 at 8:13 am UTC

Quoting: HamishI am assuming they mean RX Vega graphics.

Does System76 solder in the RAM like Lenovo does now? Because that just horrifies me.

EDIT: Nope, RAM is fully upgradeable with two DDR4 slots. Sounds great.

No, they don't. I am going for the european version of System76 and that is TuxedoComputers but I like more the carbon magnezium and more compact(but better CPU performance) TuxedoComputers Pulse 15 Gen 1 . Tomorow I will order it as a work laptop

OMG OMG OMG ! This was one of my favorite games. I loved it, and I think I will buy this on release BUT, I would personally prefer if I could somehow buy it as a DLC and have only 1 entry in my Steam list since technically is the same game with just a UI update, but I would prefer to pay that UI update and have it as a 1 entry in my steam list.

Quoting: bOrviS7000Thanks for the tip Liam. I will try it out. I had to add -nojoy to my start up to get the game to run. I think it had issues with my force3d pro joystick.
Counter Strike is a nice game, now if I could just figure out how to silence the silly cussing boys that are saying the same three curse words in their limited vocabularies

Open the Console in CS and type voice_enable 0 . With that voice chat is muted. Or just mute them manually in the Score Board.

Since it is a team play game, it may be best to leave voice on and only ban people who annoy you or use the voice chat wrong

DRAG certainly seems like a promising upcoming racing game

My best run was 28. something I forgot, I actually played it yesterday and it is very nice. I am top 16 overall and I think I can improve dough I am going to play other games since it is fully released.

I think it is normal for such a car to be a bit more slippery especially on gravel, but no mater how much throttle I use it is very hard to make the car oversteer. Overall very nice game tbh.

What I don't like is actually heating a barrier(especially being open wheel) it like nothing happens to the car, I would expect some tire damage, or bending a wheel or something.

Based on this demo I think I will buy this game if it will work on linux and online races are smooth.

Quoting: Vortex_AcheronticThe next step is up to NVidia to get their Optimus Support on Linux in order and more out of the box. Without the requirement for 3rd party tools or patched XOrg servers... x.x

I lost hope this will ever happen a long time a go...

Quoting: fagnerlnI love the color scheme of Manjaro, but I'm really fine with ubuntu (and pretty excited with 20.04, it will be a good day)

Used Ubuntu for years, then I tried Manjaro, but I very quickly gave up, switch back to Ubuntu, at some point I got fed up with Ubuntu and switch back to Manjaro and actually gave it a fear chance. I love it, I actually love it. I used the Budgie version for some time but now I am on Gnome.
Ubuntu is nice, but the software they provide is usually very old, and you have to add PPAs and for a new user I don't think that is very easy. Manjaro, the way I see it, is like Ubuntu but with new-er software, yes it's not that tested, but I didn't have a problem with it until now. And once you get how the AUR works... my god this is like a new experience to Linux in itself.

Maybe when this release comes out, I will actually do a complete reinstall, since I put it on my laptop and PC like 3-4 years ago I never reinstaled the OS but I kind of want have that "fresh feeling" :D

I tried Manjaro some years ago, it looks great but it feels a bit bloated, I know that they improved this in recent versions.

On the last year I bought a new PC, I tried to install Manjaro but it fails, I think that the iso was corrupted, I tried OpenSUSE tumbleweed, which is great, but I find some theming issues and annoying bugs on KDE,and the way that OpenSUSE updates is interesting, but a >GB update daily can be discouraging. So I tried Solus, which is one of the most promising distro that I ever seen, it's so smooth, starts instantly and is beautiful, but I had performance problems in gaming. So I ended up with Kubuntu 19.10, which is a perfect distro for KDE, sadly KDE have bugs here too, and today I will come back to gnome with Ubuntu 20.04.

Guess it's true, the first impression always counts a lot... I think you should try it sometime again and use it for 1-2 month. Force yourself to do this and then come to a conclusion, maybe you will have a change of heart.
It is especially hard since you may be used to do things in a certain way, that is why you always fall back to a Debian based distro, I know the feeling, it's what you are used to and you know how to do things quick there.

Gnome

Why do you attack against Gnome with such passion? So many new Linux users love it, and in my experience it is the best Linux desktop for tablet.

This Gnome-bashing does no service to Linux in all and should just stop :O

But it is cool to bash on Gnome, all the kids are doing it :D ... or so I think the people who bash Gnome think. Personaly I used xfce, budgie, unity, I still like Gnome better

Yea, it really makes no sense. Why some people can't JUST USE things they find best for themselves, and leave those that wasn't "a match", be. Gnome is the only DE which works as well on desktop and mobile. No tweaking required.

Gnome is the default in Ubuntu, Fedora, Pop_OS. Those are some distros people try when coming to Linux. And what do they find arriving on discussions, hopes up just to have found Linux: bashing of this and bashing of that and how Gnome makes some "puke". C'mon.

There was a Destination Linux episode (can't remember which) where Noah talked of this same issue spot on. Maybe it's better to not state anything if the only thing coming to mind from some certain DE for instance is some negative slur.

Here in Germany Linux has about 4% user count nowadays! (according to statcounter) ^_^

German goverment uses linux if I am not mistaken, right? I think because of this, more and more people will feel more comfortable to use Linux.

You think mistakenly. I speak ill of Gnome sometimes because I don't like the Gnome UI (and because I did like the Gnome 2 UI and was annoyed when the Gnome people took it away from me). I like an old fashioned UI along the lines of Gnome 2 plus incremental improvements; that's why I use Mate and my fallback would be Cinnamon (which are not on your list of things you've tried--maybe you'd like them).
Your mileage may vary, but assuming everyone whose taste differs from yours is just pretending or something is mistaken and wrongheaded.

It is 1 thing not to like and a second to bash on something...
Refarding what I have used and what not: I read a lot about multiple GUIs and I know Cinnamon is on linux Mint, but personally I do not find that distro good for me. But talking purely astetics, I think Budgie does it better, that is why I chose Budgie to try it, and it realy is good, had no problems with it, but I find that Gnome offers more + I like Gnome direction
