Initial thoughts on the HP Dev One laptop with Pop!_OS

In my opinion this is the best way for Linux to start getting noticed. No matter how good Linux is, if it does not come preinstalled on laptops/desktops, most people will not bother changing the OS.
Well... this is still targeted to developers, so still a small niche in the market, but it is a start and any laptop with Linux preinstalled is a very good thing.

I like the fact that they put in the extra time to reproduce your issue with charging and fixed it.

I do not own yet a Steam Deck but I seriously thinking of buying one. It does look very impresive to be hoenst

Quoting: mihaibI am a bit curious on what this power options actually do to the system... I can't seem to find a explanation on the web. I mean what actualy does it tweak/set to achieve this.

Maybe one of these has the info you seek?

The phoronix article gives a bit more information to what it actually does. Thank you.

Linux vendor System76 releases the Pangolin, a full AMD laptop
17 March 2021 at 8:13 am UTC

Quoting: HamishI am assuming they mean RX Vega graphics.

Does System76 solder in the RAM like Lenovo does now? Because that just horrifies me.

EDIT: Nope, RAM is fully upgradeable with two DDR4 slots. Sounds great.

No, they don't. I am going for the european version of System76 and that is TuxedoComputers but I like more the carbon magnezium and more compact(but better CPU performance) TuxedoComputers Pulse 15 Gen 1 . Tomorow I will order it as a work laptop

OMG OMG OMG ! This was one of my favorite games. I loved it, and I think I will buy this on release BUT, I would personally prefer if I could somehow buy it as a DLC and have only 1 entry in my Steam list since technically is the same game with just a UI update, but I would prefer to pay that UI update and have it as a 1 entry in my steam list.

Quoting: bOrviS7000Thanks for the tip Liam. I will try it out. I had to add -nojoy to my start up to get the game to run. I think it had issues with my force3d pro joystick.
Counter Strike is a nice game, now if I could just figure out how to silence the silly cussing boys that are saying the same three curse words in their limited vocabularies

Open the Console in CS and type voice_enable 0 . With that voice chat is muted. Or just mute them manually in the Score Board.

Since it is a team play game, it may be best to leave voice on and only ban people who annoy you or use the voice chat wrong

DRAG certainly seems like a promising upcoming racing game

My best run was 28. something I forgot, I actually played it yesterday and it is very nice. I am top 16 overall and I think I can improve dough I am going to play other games since it is fully released.

I think it is normal for such a car to be a bit more slippery especially on gravel, but no mater how much throttle I use it is very hard to make the car oversteer. Overall very nice game tbh.

What I don't like is actually heating a barrier(especially being open wheel) it like nothing happens to the car, I would expect some tire damage, or bending a wheel or something.

Based on this demo I think I will buy this game if it will work on linux and online races are smooth.
