Wolfire Games filed a lawsuit against Valve over abuse of their market position

Quoting: s8as8aFor what it's worth, the 30% (or any percentage) cut doesn't seem bad to me (even if they didn't "give back" anything to the community, but in our case, they do, and a lot). What does seem bad to me is the "clauses Valve have that prevent developers selling at cheaper prices on other stores" (because that improperly reduces competition among stores, and that likely is the point).
That sounds like a myth honestly. I'm sure I've seen games available elsewhere for less many times.

Quoting: TeodosioI didn't really know the details of this controversy. I checked the open letter, and one of the things RMS is accused of is:

RMS has spent years on a campaign against using people’s correct pronouns. This is poorly disguised transphobia. In the original publication of the GNU Kind Communication Guidelines, he said “there are various ways to express gender neutrality in third-person singular pronouns in English; you do not have to use ‘they.’”14 This text has since been updated, but is still transphobic.
Seriously? Anybody else smells cancel culture?
Yup but what can ya do. Babies on social media will always triumph because if you say stuff like "I don't like <thing>" a group of whiners will take it in the most negative way as if I don't want that <thing> to exist either despite that not being the case.

Quoting: DrakkerThe main problem I see right now is the amount of grinding required to craft stuff past the stone age. I'm used to things taking a long time, as I said earlier, coming from Vintage Story, but mining in Valheim is just not fun at all. It's a huge hassle, and you will spend hours doing it. It takes way too much material to upgrade your items and armors. I'm pretty sure that they will change that before the release, as the feedback from everyone seems to be the same.
Bronze is a horrendous waste of time. At most, pickaxe armor sword and a shield, but do not upgrade it. The next tier will quickly replace it. Trust me. I made every bronze item and upgraded them to the max, even after 300 copper ore it was barely enough. You'll end up regretting it if you do what I did.

Upgrading every tier to max is also a waste of time (except end-game materials really). Depends on how fast you want to get through content, but a lot of grinding is needed to max everything, and can really bum you out at the end. I didn't even have much desire to build stuff after I reached the last tier, despite having a few ideas.

Anyway, bronze is by far the worst tier in the game and needs a heavy rethink imo.

Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition returns on June 16

The festivals are great. I wishlisted quite a few games that I probably wouldn't have even tried without blasting through a load of demos.

Hopefully they continue doing this. Buying and refunding works, sure, but it's not something you're supposed to really use for trying a game, and if you abuse it, they can and do warn you that they can remove that privilege.

Tried the beta, had no desire to really play it because it performed pretty poor, more so than I recall the public version did.

Hopefully that's ironed out when it releases on Steam, seems like it should be a lot less demanding to run than it is

Quoting: detroutAre people using the Java version on Linux, or is there some way of getting the Bedrock edition to run via some kind of compatibility layer? The one I found says it doesn't support the latest version.
You can run it but the guy maintaining it is very slow at, well, maintaining it.

Not much you can really do other than running it in an android OS maybe a VM I guess.

Can't wait to see the things they add. Nice that they're bringing spooky elements to the game. Should make even hardcore players shake a little!

KDE Plasma 5.20 Beta is out and it's huge
19 Sep 2020 at 1:08 am UTC

I've been using KDE for like 3-4 years now, and it's a pretty great DE in many ways. I do wish however that my experience with it had been a little more less problematic, but they are minor problems.

Hopefully one day the team gets KDE to a point they've ironed out the stuff and then releasing an update maybe every few months to avoid potential issues like the ones I've had which I'm certain have been caused by changes to certain settings.

For anyone curious, issues are with; (After only a year of having it installed this time around)
- double-clicking folders on desktop (yeah, just folders weirdly enough)
- monitors at one point kept reverting back to a different configuration than I had set it to fixed by clearing out kscreen folder if I recall, even though I never bother changing the settings after I set them up in the first place, so how they broke I can only assume was from KDE updates.
- Selecting text in a GTK application doesn't work for me anymore, no matter what method I use to select said text
- Compositor seems to be the root of what causes my system to lockup completely if I leave my computer running for a couple of days (something that I never had issue with on kernel's 4.19 and if I recall, 5.4. Arch's LTS Kernel seems to have the same issue too). With it off, doesn't seem to present an issue.

Demo seems to be very basic, like pricing to 100 doesn't seem to effect anything, just changes how much money you want.
Rotating buildings doesn't work, and rotating belts to the left don't show up as an arrow (though still work).

Regardless, its simplicity is cool, and feels chill to play. Looking forward to it honestly.
