Double Fine Productions is now on Desura
18 Dec 2013 at 12:33 am UTC

Pyschonauts is now up for Linux as well, although I am slightly disappointed that my completely unsupported hunch about the possibility of it getting further updates seems to have been proven wrong. Now all of the games that were featured in the Humble Double Fine Bundle are available on Desura, although I have still not seen any word on the potential for Desura keys for Humble Bundle customers. I may try poking them about it more directly.

I own it, but have yet to try it. Now that the updates are out I should put it higher on my already too long to do list.

Psychonauts is now up and is even available for purchase, but not for Linux:

The optimist in me is hoping that this is a sign they are making a few more updates to the Linux port and that they are waiting for those to be finished before uploading it. Regardless, I have asked about its absence on the the Psychonauts Desura profile page.

Quoting: Quote from adolsonI'm not sure what you're referring to. Are you saying that the <2% of Linux gamers on Steam, for example, are accounting for 10+% of the revenue for a bunch of games? So, say, random game, Monaco. 10% of Monaco sales are from the <2% of Linux users?
Yes, it is very probable that 2% percent of Steam's user base can account for over 10% of purchases on certain games. If that does not make sense to you, I suggest you brush up on your statistics. Linux users are prejudiced to buying Linux supporting games more than users of other platforms, obviously.
Tripwire the makers of Killing Floor have said that 10% of their sales after posting to Mac AND Linux were to those platforms. That's combined Mac and Linux versions not just Linux.

My point was not necessarily that Linux would be 10% of sales on all games - although for many titles such as those by Frictional and Wolfire it was actually reported as being a little higher than that -  just that it is very likely that it would be more than 2% of games sales, as Linux users are biased towards purchasing Linux supporting titles more than those using other platforms.

GamingOnLinux Reviews - Trine 2: Complete Story

My source was the Wikipedia images themselves. What I said still stands, as I never did say blanket coverage, although it is a good thing that you have received some additional clarification.

It is interesting that Frozenbyte themselves never commented on this though, as we both know they know of my review, and even if they just glanced at it in passing they probably would have read the first line.

Quoting: Quote from adolsonAnd I bet most of the Linux users who know who he is and wanted his game had already bought it. What he learned from that, is what Activision already knows. If his games are good, I'd be willing to buy them. Maybe I already own them/it and I don't even know.
Your entire suggestion here is that most Linux users buy non-native games. Which may very well be true, but you have done very little to back up that assertion, other than mentioning Humble promotions where most of the people involved were probably trying to make a statement to the developers or to the Humble Bundle people more than anything else, through misguided means or not.

I for one do not do this, or buy non-native software in general, so if you are basing your opinions on just a few anecdotes from people you know my actions still have equal weight compared to theirs. Unless you have a broader field of evidence to show.

I guess we all agree with Schafer then, eh?

After "accidentally" jumping your spaceship through a wormhole, you've crash landed onto this forsaken desert planet a billion kilometres from home.
Not to be pedantic, but that is not actually that far in space. You would end up somewhere around Saturn.

Okay, I will shut-up and try and be constructive now. :P

I do not quite get the "politically incorrect " comment - so far they have not mentioned anything that would raise any eyebrows.

EDIT: The newspaper might, I suppose.
