Quoting: GuestThe problem with the Distro identification is that you'll need to pasted you're Steam Systeminfo and sometimes it just sais "Linux 4.x" on various distributions.
openSUSE did as well (now it reports themselves properly as openSUSE) not sure if this was caused by the Distro or by Steam.

Steam uses LSB to determine the distro, and falls back if that's not installed. On Fedora, "sudo dnf install redhat-lsb-core" was enough to get it showing correctly. The "redhat-lsb" package pulls in tons of other dependencies, including qt3, which is why I had removed it previously...

Quoting: PatolaWhat's the problem with ... Larian Studios (which made Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition for Linux, but not Divinity Original Sin 2)?

It was a quite long delay on the Linux port, which was promised as part of the Kickstarter. I understand it was a good port when it was finally released; haven't gotten around to playing it myself.

Quoting: wvstolzingWait, which '9' did Apple skip over? The pre-unix system was called MacOS 9 (in fact they kind of 'skipped over' *8* by retiring it early)

I thought they skipped from 8 to OSX, and then grudgingly did 9 since OSX was still buggy, but wikipedia tells me I am misremembering. Oops.

Quoting: mylkaDX11 will die with win7 (i know win7 will die slowly)

Windows 8.x is stuck at DX11 also (I didn't realize even Vista got it):
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/179113/how-to-install-the-latest-version-of-directx

So it's going to be around longer than that (even if Win8 wasn't as popular).

Quoting: Purple Library Guyhang on a minute, was there a Windows 9? I don't even remember.

M$ skipped over 9, just like Apple. Also just like Apple, they are saying they will keep updating 10 for the foreseeable future (meanwhile, we got X11 for decades, lol! I remember there was a proposal for "Y", but then it went the other direction, with "W"ayland).

Quoting: Beamboom... and with proper voice acting too

The voice acting is good, but the English translation (from German?) sounds a bit too literal...

Six years ago today, Steam was released for Linux - Happy Birthday

Quoting: stretch611Odd... This must be some type of coincidence because it can't possibly be related to the story. :P

But according to the badge on my profile page, my years of service on Steam will hit 6 years within the next two months. How odd is that being so close to 6 years of Steam on linux?

Definitely not a coincidence for me that I hit 6 years on December 19th... Steam beta!

I bought a lot of the games Loki published, every iD title that had Linux binaries, and even a stack of LGP titles when they had a big sale. But I've always had the same problem... more games than time to play. :(

There's some pretty big sales going on right now, here's a look
