Quoting: AnzaApples problem was more that they really didn't know how to collaborate at first
They never learned; that's why Google forked Webkit to Blink. For a very recent example: they drove away the creator of Swift, who, although he had left Apple 5 years ago, was still volunteering his time to contribute to the project.

Updated text on Download page to clarify when player is downloading a patch vs an initial download
Wasn't there supposed to be some designation (in the desktop client's download page) for shader downloads? I still see Steam downloading a bunch of (presumably shader) updates on most restarts, with no indication of what it is. The Tomb Raider games have a PATCH NOTES link, but they point at Windows updates from last year, so not very useful.

Europa Universalis IV Complete Collection available on Humble Bundle
25 Mar 2022 at 6:24 pm UTC

Quoting: Deleted_UserJust for the curiosity: is it possible to split the bundle, so you can take the parts you don't allready own and gift the rest to someone?
Can't speak about this bundle specifically, but it usually works that way. When it's a single key with multiple items, they usually list it as a single bundle item.

Fanatical put up their own Stand With Ukraine Charity Bundle
25 Mar 2022 at 4:45 am UTC

10,000 keys * $15 = not very ambitious, when the other charity bundles have generated millions?

itch.io > $6.3M
humble > $18.6M

For the Fanatical bundle, even if everybody paid triple, that's still less than $0.5M. Maybe they will add more keys for some of the games?

Europa Universalis IV Complete Collection available on Humble Bundle

Got the Humble EU IV bundle back in January 2020; don't remember if it was "complete" at that time, but there's definitely stuff in the new bundle that wasn't in the old one (but nothing that looks worth shelling out another $20).

Alice: Madness Returns appears on Steam again, works well on Steam Deck with 60FPS fix

The first game used idTech3; I wonder if ioquake3 can run it, or if it had too many modifications. After a quick search, it does appear that someone has been working on it, but it's not clear how usable it is:

Here's some of the latest Steam Deck Verified titles including the popular Valheim

I was going to say "I sure wish they showed the Steam Deck compatibility info on the game page" - but then I found that they do! It's just buried pretty far down in the right-hand column. When I get some time I'll have to see if anyone has made a GreaseMonkey script for moving that to a better spot, and if not try to do so myself!

The itch.io app works on a Steam Deck

Quoting: ShmerlA question to experts. How do non Steam games work with controllers on the Deck? Is controller support untied from Steam? Same question for all controls, like pads, touchscreen and so on.
If I understood Liam correctly (in the story about Epic Game Store on Steam Deck), you have to run non-Steam games from within Steam to have controller functions work correctly. Hopefully he will clarify if I got that wrong.

John Romero releases new DOOM II level to raise funds to support Ukraine
4 Mar 2022 at 1:31 am UTC

This is Romero's first DOOM II level since the release of the original.
This article has the same headline, but then goes on to list multiple releases that contradict it:

Or were those other releases technically for Doom, and not Doom 2?
