I totally missed this. Having too much fun with two point hospital to get this now though.

This game does not work out of the box with proton on my computer. It skipped the cinematics, and I cannot move when I am in-game. Tried mostly because I had already redeemed my kickstarter key and wanted to get some steam playtime on it before two weeks had passed.

I claimed my backer key already, hope it doesn't mess up their platform statistics. Guess I could download and try it with steam play just for this.

Quoting: TcheySo, the game is enjoyable, yes, and i do like it, somehow. It's simple, simplistic even, but be warned about the lack of depth for pretty much anything. The first levels gradually add depth to the game. Things I learn later on makes me quite ashamed of how I designed the hospitals in the earlier levels if I go back to look at them. It's not just about unlocking better equipment and new features, it is also about experiencing how features that were there all along affect the hospital.

Nice review. I haven't missed sandbox at all as the builtin hospitals have been quite sufficient so far. I must admit some of them had some boring bits while unlocking 2nd and 3rd star though.

By default the proton way of launching the bard's tale trilogy(remastered) with -force-glcore argument minimizes inside a big wine window when I moved my mouse out of the window, which I had trouble restoring again without killing the game. I turned off fullscreen and auto pause and that fixed it. It is clear that it is a remastered old game, rather than a new one, but it is still quite pretty for what it is. In my first combat I made a mistake and asked one of my guys to attack my own team, but luckily I got a chance to review my choice before doing it.
Looking forward to getting bard's tale 4 as well.

Quoting: ShmerlIt's live on steam [External Link] already. I just did the platform selection in the survey and just received the key. I received the email the 15. of august, just forgot about it. I guess this is a good time to enable proton for all titles.Quoting: slaapliedjeThe Bard's Tale remastered is not being done by inXile, and is not a direct code upgrade, they basically had to rewrite the whole thing. It was started by Olde Sküül and then picked up by Krome. inXile were helping. But yes, it's a full rewrite in Unity. They should enable OpenGL renderer in version 1.09 and on (didn't reach GOG yet), so it might be possible to make a native version manually using matching Unity player.
Really hoping for the native port as well, but it does seem to work with Proton.

I have completed 6 missions now, all except 1 with 3 stars. Generally, the learning curve is much gentler than theme hospital, and research and unlocks are shared among all your hospitals, so you can research most of the technologies on hospitals where you can easily afford the extra salary cost. However, I think it is a lot harder to avoid having any of my patients die in two point. I have received all end of year rewards multiple times except the "have no death" reward as there is always someone who dies. I guess I could get it on a hospital with fully upgraded equipment and well-trained staff though, just see no point playing too long after I get the 3 stars.

I don't know if the golden toilet DLC was unlocked automatically or not, but I didn't find it until I logged into their website again after launch. You still need to unlock it in-game before you can use it though and it costs 50 unlock points.
