Steam stable update brings end of life notice for 32-bit Windows and lots of bug fixes

I'm not sure how many people have this issue but for me game recording hasn't been working since months ago, only recording a few frames then freezing the image.

I'm not sure if Valve is even aware of that or if it's my configuration but it seems a lot of people have that problem, not just me
I checked and I have full working two hour recording. I checked few discussions and they seem to mention Flatpack. Didn't dig down very deep though.

What has EA ever done for Linux as a gaming platform?
Released Command & Conquer source code (not that it compiles as is on Linux though). Though whole thing seems to be rather exception than a rule.

Dying Light: The Beast specifications look really reasonable and there's a new trailer

won't be playing in 4K as I have 2K monitor
"4K" is 2160p; what are you calling "2K"? 1440p?
Exactly that. Though looking at Wikipedia, it's practically 2.5K. Must have remembered 2K from some old marketing material or something.

My setup seems to be bit lopsided. CPU is just bit different variant for the minimum specs. GPU is somewhere in the recommended range. I have some extra GPU memory and system memory hits the the high requirement.

Though I know I won't be playing in 4K as I have 2K monitor.

Maybe no need to update the computer just yet, but maybe in year or two. I don't play lot of AAA games anyway.

The excellent survivor-like Halls of Torment is getting a big DLC and free update

Yeah, this is not an autobattler - you are controlling the unit.
I think you can even, if you want, fire shots manually (some games in the genre have that optional feature, not sure if this one).
You can disable autofire. Probably not worth it.

Disabling autoaim can be more beneficial though as you can aim at boss or cut through path through the horde.

There's one character that disables autofire, but gives massive damage boost. Bit annoying to play as firerate is slow.

I wonder if the genre is ready to move out of Vampire Survivors clone status to genre of it's own. Doom had similar influence on genre name before FPS started to replace Doom clone term.

Auto battler seems to be used also for otherwise different games, which happens to have element where you don't directly control the units.

Auto shooter seems to be used for some games in the genre. Bullet heaven is also used.

Halls of Torment was first game in the genre that clicked for me. The mechanic of just moving around and dodging enemies can be bit boring at first if you don't have any direction to go to. Halls of Torment happened to first one I played that pointed where two mystic objects were located and that was enough to get me hooked. I spent 45 hours with the game and updates might give good excuse to play some more.

Jump Space (formerly Jump Ship) arrives September 19 for co-op PvE spaceship fun
22 Aug 2025 at 7:55 pm UTC

I tried the demo in solo, it was fun but tedious, too much work to do around the ship for a single player. But if you can get a group going, I'm sure its going to be a lot of fun.
I think I didn't have as much to do as I mostly flied the ship and robot handled the rest. But I can agree, that it seems it probably is more fun as multiplayer. There's some potential for Barotrauma level mayhem, but the demo didn't get close to that yet.

Outlaws + Handful of Missions: Remaster is the next Nightdive Studios release

Nightdive seems to be hard at work trying to empty my wallet. First Heretic + Hexen and now this. . Though to be honest, Heretic + Hexen is more tempting as I played lot more those, with Outlaws I remember playing just the demo.

Steam is getting wider and more responsive store pages

Barely noticed anything different. Though now that I'm actually paying attention to the videos, they do make the games look more enticing. And with better format, things probably will improve.

Vampire Survivors is getting an official board game

The best (and admittedly only) board game based on a computer game I played so far is Dorfromantik.
I can imagine that Dorfromantik translates well. Slay the Spire is also pretty good translation, even when there are few modifications to make it multiplayer.
