THE FINALS broke again on Linux Desktop / Steam Deck, Valve updated Proton Hotfix to fix it

Once again kudos to Valve to fix this fuckup so quickly.
And at the same time: Shame on Embark for such stupidity!
It still baffles me that Dev apparently still don't even run a single Test on Proton before releasing a patch nowadays...

Epic reduce their cut to 0% for the first $1 million in revenue for devs on the Epic Games Store

Talk about desperate...

It baffles me that they still haven't understood that their take on "convincing the developers" only works if they manage to achieve widespread exclusivity. As this anti-consumer scheme thankfully has failed colossally, they have to understand that in order to gain traction, they have to deliver reasons for the customers to come to them.
Right now, from a consumer standpoint, there are exactly zero reasons to even consider buying a game on EGS instead of Steam or GoG. Instead, there are plenty of reasons to prefer one of the other two over EGS.

So they implemented epic, gog and amazon support without using any code from GPL projects like legendary, heroic-gogdl or nile, in less than a year, with a team of two where only one is a coder. Impressive!
Exactly my first thought (or maybe second after "proprietary? no thank you!").
If they are honest, i wish them all the best, but this smells more like a "i really hope that the GPL gets enforced here...". We'll see how it plays out i guess...

Dear game developers: please just don't!

I hope Valve are watching closely with Microsoft working towards an Xbox Handheld

I would really be surprised if they actually made windows usable for sane people on a handheld.
On the other hand, we know inertia and Microsoft is everything but a stranger to shady and despicable business practices - so i really do hope that you are just alarmist and not prophetic...

Humble Choice for March 2025 has Pacific Drive

It's a real bummer they again include origin-bullshit keys -.-
Especially since ZAU doesn't even require the EA-App abomination on Steam...

Last month i skipped because of that - this month, i'm really on the verge, both pacific drive and homeworld 3 are really tempting...

Blocking Linux / Steam Deck in Apex Legends led to a 'meaningful reduction' in cheaters

Yeah great - unmarked axies and two factors smashed into one conclusion.
And even if we let that "questionable" conclusion slide, blocking Linux is still just a very poor excuse for "we're too cheap for proper server side anticheat"...

Linux 'fascinates and terrifies' the dev of DEAD LETTER DEPT. but they're supporting it anyway

Wow, kudos to the dev!
For this alone i'll consider buying it xD

Mecha Comet looks like a fun little modular Linux handheld

As with the Pilet - i somehow really want one, but i just can't justify it/imagine enough stuff to do with it to justify the purchase

Quoting: mihaibthe grinding is a bit harsh
I mean, at least it's not pay2win. So i always try to remind myself, that i don't play the game for the sake of unlocking the tech tree, but because the matches are fun. That way, the grind that sets in beyond T3 isn't really too much of an issue imho...
