Yeah, i still don't trust that they won't intentionally break/block proton due to it not properly supporting the rootkit.

Another case for "not buying anything from EA".
And another case for "a shame that steam still doesn't support choosing the version".

Remote play together is great!
It's just a shame that it still often times doesn't really work right (for example missing sound) when hosted on a linux machine :/

Proton Hotfix updated to support HELLDIVERS 2 on Steam Deck / Linux

Ok, now i'm really confused. Is the missing Rootkit just ignored by the game (which would probably be "fixed" at some point) or did they manage to fake it through proton? O_o

Hm, i might be blind, but i don't see any indication, that the Steam version gets spared from the horrible EA App bullshit?
I mean, it's possible, some games are indeed free of this nonsense, but the vast majority of EA games released on steam still have the EA App, don't they?

Meh, so it went from at least mildly interesting to completely insignificant...a shame. I'd much rather see them offer Win11 as an option (with the correct cost) and report the percentages ^^

Quoting: BrokattWhat's almost never brought up is that if a user is using Ubuntu LTS, and the official Steam package then they can get support directly from Valve.

I haven't had contact with valves support yet, but in general, i can't recall a SINGLE instance, where the (free) software support of ANY company was worth a dime. So i wouldn't take that as a big plus tbh...

Quoting: KimyrielleI am thinking of a really compelling reason to containerize Steam and can't come up with one...

It's been said before, but do you really feel comfortable with every random game having full access to your whole file system?!

TBF, i really can't think of any reason to NOT containerize things like Game(s/-launchers) or Browsers whereever possible on anything but a pure gaming system. Besides ignorance and/or stupidity of course.

Team Fortress: Source 2 fan project gets a DMCA from Valve

Well, i'm absolutely no fan of the whole DMCA-Bullshit, but at least in this case ("The TF2 assets have been ported to Source 2 without permission") it's at least somewhat understandable.
