And it still sometimes shows that valve don't take themselfs too seriously still :)
Quoting: EhvisStill it's *very* gimicky, something I expect from less serious shops. But maybe "loyalty" programs such as this is the new normsure, it's gimicky, but the gimicks are a big part of the "real" steam-sales for me, i quite liked them in the past ^^

I'm really thankfull for proton for playing old games or games that i got in a bundle (and that the devs see it as a linux-"sale"), but i won't buy a not officially supported game for more than a few bucks...

Quoting: WendigoAnd this is exactly the reason why I would never buy a Windows game even if it has platinum status for Proton. Was about to write the exact same.
There is just no guarantee that the game will still work in a few weeks / months / years and if you get issues in the future you are left in the rain since the game was never made to be run on Linux.

Epic and Improbable are taking advantage of Unity with the SpatialOS debacle, seems a little planned

Quoting: MayeulCWhat would be interesting for them is to take a (slightly) lesser cut if the game is cross-platform. Everyone would be happy about this, I think, especially bean counters :)now that is one of the best ideas i've heard in a while to boost Linux-acceptance among the devs...too bad valve is not looking into this comments xD

Quoting: 14i wanted to buy PoE2 in the near future (already have most of the others), but now that that money will go to M$ without them having any contribution to it - no thank you.Quoting: liamdaweTogether, they've made some pretty interesting Linux games such as Pillars of Eternity, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, Tyranny, Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numenera, The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep and more to come.I feel like I need to crack out the wallet and buy all of those on GOG now.

Well, good thing i was to sceptical/disappointed from previous crowdfundings that dropped linux that i refrained from backing phoenix point...
it's an a-hole move and i won't be buying their game outside of a massive sale, even if the re-implement linux some time after release...
that said, at least you can get a refund - hopefully they communicate the change of plans through email etc so every scammed tux can reclaim their money...

A shame that their "storefront agnostic" Take doesn't include itch.io ^^
Nevertheless, intersting to know and does for sure make them more sympathic!

love itch - i normally check if the game is sold on itch (and ideally offers a steam key for the transition-time ;) ) before buying something from Humble or Steam.
Besides "my steam library is pretty big" only missing friends features are what i'm missing in itch ^^
