The Steam 2016 Halloween sale has some nice Linux games for cheap
28 Oct 2016 at 6:55 pm UTC

It's not Halloween-related, but I'm buying the three "Let's Explore" games [External Link] for my kids since it's $2.99 for all three. That's 80% off the normal bundle, or 86% off buying them individually.

They run on Linux "natively" (the Steam version uses ScummVM) and they run very well. These games are kids exploration/learning games with lots of silly environment interactions. I'd estimate that they're good for ages 3-8.

I recently came across the old CD version of Let's Explore the Airport, got it running in ScummVM and my kids love it. I was planning on just getting the other two, but right now it's cheaper to buy all three on Steam than to buy only two.

Edit: They also run well in the Android version of ScummVM. These old point and click games work well on tablets.

Life is Strange episode 1 will be free from tomorrow, no exact word on Linux release yet

The LifeIsStrange YouTube account links to an image with the release timings for the free episode. Unfortunately, Mac is listed, but Linux is not. So I don't think we'll get it tomorrow.

That's too bad. It is quite a good point and click adventure. I played it on Android.

Editorial: Valve have not abandoned SteamOS or Linux, things are looking pretty good

Buy Linux games from legitimate stores. Steam, Humble Store, GOG, Games Republic and itch.io are a few choices. Try to make sure you're counted as a Linux sale.
We've been over how to ensure your sale counts for Linux on Steam. What are the rules for how your sale counts on these other platforms?

The Mac version was released today, but a DoubleFine dev says the Linux version will be "much later". :-(

Thank you for not using Disqus!

Beyond the data privacy concerns, it never seems to work well for me (doesn't reliably load, doesn't reliably login), so I'm glad you're not using it. I really like your current comment system, so keep it as it is!

CrossCode, an epic looking 16-bit SNES-style RPG is now on Linux & SteamOS

I really liked the trailer and typically enjoy this type of game, however I'm disappointed that it is Early Access. Can anyone comment on how far along the game is? I prefer to buy when the game is complete.

Cities: Skylines - Snowfall release date and price announced

I haven't played Cities: Skylines at all, but given that I live in a place that tends to get a lot of snow, I'm interested in seeing how the game handles snow management. I'll keep an eye on this one.

Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port on their radar

Maybe it's Ether One. The devs have talked about looking into Mac/Linux support soon. The 1 from the equation is the One in Ether One. Maybe the pearl refers to the "White" in White Paper Games.

Ok, so assuming that equation is actually referring to -(e^(i * pi)), the value of that is 1. The picture looks like a pearl to me. Maybe someone else can figure out what game that refers to.

A game originally on Xbox One maybe?
