Quoting: Mountain ManCan we can talk about the possibility of Valve releasing new games? I'm excited because as someone who once used Steam on OSX and bought a Steam Controller, I got the "Sorry the Steam Controller didn't work on OSX, so here's all of our games, past, present, and future, for free" deal. I thought I'd never get to make use of it.Yes, let's. And oh, you lucky sod. :D

In fact, now I come to think of it, the developers of Kerbal Space Program recommend using a backup if you're using mods.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoCan you move these games [External Link] to another of your machines using an external HDD?Yes.

Quoting: ShmerlDRM is defined very simply as something that limits the usage of your digital good after purchase. If Steam is required to install the game after purchase (i.e. inability to legally make a backup of your game that you can install without Steam), it is already DRM. I.e. it's not only playing that should not be restricted, it's installation from backup too.Well, it isn't. It's required for initial download, not reinstallation. End of discussion.
That precludes manual installation from the backup you referred to. I.e. doing it manually would be violation of their TOS.That may be, but the Steam client isn't used to manage it. It isn't DRM.

Quoting: JahimselfHitman, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Metro Last Light, and even Mad Max looks better than RoTR.Those are all good-looking games, and I can't directly comment on RoTR yet (although the original reboot looked pretty darned good to me), but one thing that really puzzled me about Mankind Divided was why it was so heavy on system resources considering the quality of its graphics. It can look great, don't misunderstand me, but it absolutely doesn't look anything like as good as Hitman, Metro, or TR on the settings I'm forced to run it at here.

(Sorry about the misattribution, Maelrane. Don't know how that happened.)

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoGOG Galaxy client is OPTIONAL for to download the games, Steam client is MANDATORY for to download the games...In that case, you might as well say the GOG website is DRM.

Just as a side note, has anyone else noticed a suspicious tendency recently for games to run better in early levels than later on? I'm sure it has nothing to do with Steam's refund policy...

Quoting: rkfgJust put 32 Gb in the damn box and forget about RAM. I did that and never regretted it, I run whatever I want and it just works, games, IDEs, VMs, tons of Chrome tabs, all AT THE SAME TIME and I still have plenty of RAM for /tmpYes. I'll have my manservant fit it for me while I'm out on the estate, riding my bejewelled unicorn.

Quoting: Eike12 GB RAM?!?To be fair, the only Feral game I've ever had any trouble with despite barely meeting the minimum spec (actually slightly under it, in that case) was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. And even that was playable. I think I'll wait to hear how others get on, though.
*spitting out the water he just had in his mouth*
Wow.

As I've said before, realistic racing games are probably the genre I like the most, but I have to say OutRun Online Arcade is one of my favourite XBox 360 titles (and let's be honest: it has a lot). If this does non-specific-'90s-2.5D-racing-games as well as that updated OutRun - and it certainly looks right - it'll be an absolute winner.

Trying the GoL server is definitely on my to-do list now.

Quoting: BeamboomCan't you just fire up your own server to practise on, or isn't it that easy?I thought about that (I've done it with other games, in fact), but the requirements seem surprisingly heavy and the process doesn't appear to be a case of simply downloading a binary and firing it up. As g000h says, it looks more trouble than it's probably worth. Especially when it seems there are plenty of friendly multiplayer servers around.
Trying the GoL server is definitely on my to-do list now.

Although I got Rust ages ago in a bundle, I've hardly played it because the multiplayer-only thing puts me off. I'm not against multiplayer (much), but I like to be able to practice quietly while I learn the ropes without being killed every thirty seconds. The GOL server sounds interesting, though. Maybe I'll give it a shot sometime...
