It runs like ass, fps barely in the 20's at minimum settings and 'ultra performance' upscaling from nothing p resolution. Lossless scaling can "help", depending on your take of the situation.
Members of the several fps club are fine with this kind of performance.
In my completely ignorable opinion this game is too much for the Deck. Streaming from a desktop PC would be a good idea instead.
Deck Wizard has uploaded a performance video on the new update so everyone can make up their own minds if this is acceptable.

The several fps club is a joke/meme, in case this needed clarification

@Cloversheen
Siduction is Debian sid + extra goodness. Siduction has in repo stuff like mesa-git, day1 kernel builds with more desktop oriented options than stock sid, even rc kernels. When sid was slacking a while back, the crew rolled their own firmware packages from git. At various points in time we've had nice things in repos like Nvidia beta drivers and corectrl - note that times change and not many in the team use Nvidia these days (pro hint: use cuda repo) and of course corectrl is more or less dead now. Also lots of nice to have stuff for tinkerers, like the awesome chroot-helper tool included in the live iso and a comprehensive manual.
Siduction is imho the ultimate Debian distro (for gamers especially) and has a friendly community.
Note: you are expected to know your way around Linux and Debian, this is not a distro for rookies.

I'm happy they managed to get the release out before Debians birthday on saturday.
My fellow Debian gamers may want to consider Siduction for a fresh sid-based distro. :wub:

Dying Light: The Beast looks absolutely brutal in the new trailer
6 Aug 2025 at 9:59 am UTC
As a huge Dying Light fan since release and Techland fan before that, DL2 was a supreme disappointment and even today remains a lackluster effort despite a million patches and reworked half the game.
The Beast looks to be the proper sequel and we can all forget the dud masquerading as it. Hell even Bad Blood was a better game and that failed fairly hard. I could argue even the Hellraid DLC was a more enjoyable experience than DL2.
Jank has always been a part of Techlands charm, but DL2 was all jank and not much to redeem it. It's better today, whatever meager solace that provides.
Anyway... please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good...

Dying Light 2 was largely rewritten in middle of development and was then rushed to the finishOh it was so much worse on so many levels, I'm not going into that mess. The writing was never good in any Dying Light game, and it was never important despite Techland hyping DL2 up soo hard it was comical. The signs of trouble were alarmingly clear even before Chris Avellone was yeeted in the age of Me Too when two women accused him of sexual abuse, they later retracted this and paid a seven-figure settlement for libel.

If this holds up, The Beast could be godlike. Please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good...
Also make you wonder, if they could make this the entire time then why the holy hell did we get the dead sock puppet DL2 at all. :huh:
