SARS had no initial panic as the Chinese gov was clueless to the scope of the situation, and lied for a long time about it being serious at all. Once revealed, the shit had hit the fan big time.
This time they aren't taking any chances, thus they go hardcore with hazmat teams, field hospitals, city shutdowns etc.
The Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) has infected ~2500 and killed ~850 in 27 countries(2012-2019).
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-Cov), infected more than 8000 people over roughly 8 months (2002-2003) and killed nearly 800 in 32 countries.
The 'Wuhan coronavirus' (2019-nCoV) is close to 3000 infected in 13 countries and 81 deaths. So far. It's been what, 4 weeks? First case was reported on December 31, 2019. The virus hit the "jackpot" with the Chinese New Year.
Sources: mainly WHO.
Not sure if it's time to panic, but uh... there's flooding, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, droughts, whole continents on fire, wars and rampant violence everywhere, even a damn plague of locusts currently destroying east Africa. :S:
edit:
Forgot to mention that the way more deadly disease Measles, which is caused by a virus in the paramyxovirus family and is easily preventable via vaccine, killed ~140,000 people globally in 2018. Before the vaccine was introduced in 1963, it killed millions every year. So, yeah.

Oh man, that first night... such scars sweet memories will never fade.
The native version is not bad anymore since Techland fixed a few long standing bugs that could break the game, most notably the Drop Attack with a bladed weapon that would cause a long pause, hang the game or CTD.
While the native version should run smooth and be stable now, it doesn't work on all systems. Black screen with white loading bar crash can sometimes be fixed by adding a launch option to skip the intro:
Proton can also alleviate this problem, should have better performance for most systems, plus it offers more graphics options for increased visual fidelity. I.e. darker darkness and shadowier shadows.

You know... they could have just gone for Rocket League 2 as an EGS exclusive and left the original alone, perhaps release one final patch, keep the support for all OS and cross platform mp, keep raking in easy cash, keep their reputation intact, let Steam deal with the server load and online mp traffic.
Then they could have all the latest flashy Unreal Engine bling and all the DRM, anti cheat and MTX they could imagine. The E-sport circus would just move to the new game and everyone would still have the classic game.
Alas... :><:

Cervecería Modelo can't be happy right now, Corona Extra is one of the best selling beers worldwide.
The curious ones can try searching (incognito) for "corona" with Google, DDG and Bing, then compare the results.

Another brilliant consumer friendly move by Epic Games. Did the world end in 2012 and we're living in some sort of bizarro alternate universe now? It would explain, like, everything. Everything.
