Oh hey a Silverblue user with sort of similar specs to mine! How do you like it for gaming, if I can ask? :)
Works about as well as anything else. Steam runs as a Flatpak and I maintain a Toolbx container for the miscellaneous Itch.io and GOG games that require more specific dependencies. There are some annoyances, like for instance I haven't found a reliable way to run SC Controller yet, but generally speaking it hasn't gotten between me and my games at all. Most stuff just runs OOTB on the Steam Flatpak and for the rest I can drop down to a Toolbx and pretend it's an ordinary Fedora.

The real benefits of Silverblue are obviously elsewhere. I like the simplicity of the system updates and separation of system, apps and development environments. Being able to rollback bad updates (including OS version updates) and updating my dev environments separately from my system is also neat.
Oh, using the toolbox for itch and gog games is pretty clever! :)

Thanks for the reply

Linux needs to be pre-installed on more hardware to hit mainstream

Yeah, aside from what I'd call enthusiast hardware, which is aimed at people who are able to, and probably want to, install Linux themselves, there really isn't much in a way of mainstream hardware that ships with Linux pre-installed. (If we ignore Google's Linux based derivates like Android and ChromeOS)

I don't think the Steam Deck will directly mean that 2022 will be the "the year of Linux on the desktop", but it really is an important stepping stone for more people to take notice of the platform.

Edit: The only problem with more vendors shipping with Linux as an alternative to Windows is that Microsoft is not just going to take it. Call me cynical but I am fairly sure there'd be kickbacks and incentives involved if that were the case.

Looks like Valve sent out quite a lot of Steam Deck developer kits

Probably gonna try Noita, APICO, as well as some non-steam games like Guild Wars 2 and potentially something a bit more interesting like firing up Godot Engine :)

Want to try Google Stadia early? We have a three-month Stadia Pro Buddy Pass to give away

I am moving to Sweden next month and won't have my regular desktop with me for at least half a year. I'd definitely like to try Stadia :)

Quoting: NezchanIt's a pity that "Varytale" was already used by an interactive Fiction engine. That would have been a great genre term.
That really is a shame, that's an excellent term.

I guess trademark trolling is easier and more profitable than writing more CYOA books.

Can you think of a fun phrase that would fit?
"Select Your Own Endangerment"? :D
