The GOG 'Summer Sale Festival' is live with a ton of games discounted

Quoting: liamdaweApparently the publisher just isn't bothered.
Apparently, but they already were contacted by GOG about the release, so what's more to be bothered there? They just had to say yes, which would unblock VP to do it. Something is strange.

I posted this here [External Link] and here [External Link].

But probably writing direct e-mail to 2K would be better.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoMaybe because the Linux version was subsidized by Valve, making it Steam exclusive, like Metro Redux and Dying Light?
I doubt it. Valve in the past claimed, they never require exclusive deals. But feel free to ask them.

Quoting: liamdaweI spoke to VP, they said essentially it's not down to them as they don't have the rights for distributing it.
So why would 2K not do that, if they released the Windows version on GOG? We should contact 2K then, since looks like they are the bottleneck here.

Quoting: ShmerlDid anyone have any success running Bioshock Infinite with Proton or Wine+dxvk?
Why would you? It's a native game.
Tough luck, it's not a native game on GOG where Virtual Programming didn't release it for "reasons": https://www.gog.com/game/bioshock_infinite [External Link]

So I'm trying to run it in Wine+dxvk. Besides, if it works, it should have better performance than "native" eON anyway, due to more efficient translation to Vulkan instead of OpenGL.

Anyway, I opened a thread about it here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/forum/topic/3908

I tried this, to bypass installers bundling a bunch of dx junk:

lgogdownloader --list-details --game bioshock_infinite | grep 'product id'
...
product id: 1752654506

lgogdownloader --galaxy-show-builds 1752654506
0: Version 1.0.1643565 - 2019-05-24T12:52:46+0000 (Gen 2)

lgogdownloader --galaxy-install 1752654506/0

But result isn't really a full game...

I suppose something is off, or it's related to Galaxy 2.0 changes.

Quoting: liamdaweI've reached out to VP to find out if they plan to get the Linux version of BioShock Infinite on GOG.
Thanks, I also wrote to them using this form: http://www.vpltd.com/contact/ [External Link]
Not sure if they'll respond though.

@adamhm also pointed out, that he asked VP in the past, why their other Linux games are missing on GOG, like Saints Row series, for example. And VP said it's due to the publisher (Deep Silver) never asking them to release it. Which sounds weird, since Deep Silver did release Windows versions on GOG.

I suspect there is something going on between VP and original publishers that's blocking it. May be VP charge the publisher for each extra release, and the likes of Deep Silver and 2K don't care enough about other stores for Linux versions, to pay anything. Just a guess of course, I have no info about it.
