Quoting: wojtek88Is it correctly animated?I'm not sure what is considered correct there (since I have nothing to compare to), but it is animated, yes. You can see sparks flying from the fire, branches moved by the wind and etc. There are no intro videos however or anything like that when you open the game, and some suggested they should be before the main menu screen.

Quoting: sbolokanovI saw you in the W3 wine bug thread some time ago, what is the state currently? Thanks to some helpful folks, I got a GOG key to test it in Wine. It's unplayable now. If you overcome the 32GB virtual heap limit bug, the most you can get to is the initial menu:

I see. Yes, it's possible that attempted wrappers came out to be unsatisfactory, and that is what's currently blocking their Linux release. It's too late for them to make any native engine rewrite, and until wrappers will perform well, there is no point to release it. At this point, I think Wine has better chances of actually delivering playable TW3 on Linux. Even if it won't perform well right away, they'll gradually work on improving it.

Quoting: TheGZeusMaybe VP wrote a cheque they couldn't cash.I doubt it. They got tons of money from TW3 sales.

Quoting: devlandIt's easy.Except they said this:
They're working on it but are having difficulties. This would be their first Linux game. Witcher 2 was outsourced to VP.
Our team is focused mainly on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent and cannot revisit W3 for Linux. We are still exploring our options for Linux – if we would have something new to announce we will do it via our social channels. So I highly doubt anything is going on in-house now. Outsourcing - can still happen I guess.

Quoting: valguskWell there is not much use for them to port the game now and they should have just rejected the possibility. That doesn't make sense. How did they find a way to play it? It's not working in Wine yet. Those who only use Linux for gaming skipped it, and can still be potential customers.
This is too big of a game and Linux based sales will be really low, because, well because they are too late. Such overhyped projects are wanted by people and those who wanted found a way to play them already.

This looks pretty neat and I might buy it once it will come out, if there will be a way to use it without Steam and UI will be open source. But hardware crowdfunding is rather risky. More so than games crowdfunding. So if you have spare money to invest - sure, but expect it to be a gamble.

Size of the market doesn't seem to bother them either, since they released Witcher 2 for Linux in the past, and since then Linux gaming market only grew in size. So I'm not really sure what's the hiccup they have with TW3 for Linux. Unless they simply changed their mind about Linux in general, which doesn't seem to be the case based on their responses until now.

SteamOS is based on Debian stable, so it's pretty constant even to very conservative tastes. I doubt it's their main blocker, since many already release games for Linux and cope well with the fact that there are many distros.
