Take on procedurally-generated bosses in Whisker Squadron from the dev of Race The Sun

I enjoyed Race The Sun back then, and I'm looking forward to see what this game has to offer. Flippfly have been very Linux friendly, so it's a no-brainer for me to suppor them. Backed it already.

Quoting: NanobangHey Corben, thanks for the heads up. How would I go about finding this core dump file if I needed to?
For Bioshock 1 Remastered I had a core file below: <your steam game library path>/steamapps/common/BioShock Remastered/Build/Final/core
So directly where the Bioshock.exe file was.

I guess it's a similar path for Bioshock 2 Remastered.

Steam Play Proton 6.3 is out now plus a Proton Experimental update (updated)

Interesting to see Bioshock 2 Remastered on the list. I just completed it with Proton 5.13-6, I've just disabled esync, and it was running pretty solid. During my ca 20 hour play through (incl. the DLC), I had like 3 crashes.

Oh, and if it crashes, and even created a core file in the binary's path, make sure to delete the core file, as the game won't start otherwise anymore. Same is true for Bioshock 1 or even the Borderlands games, so it seems to be a 2K thing. It even won't start on Windows anymore if a core file is present, but Windows normally doesn't create a core dump on a crash :D
So it might side-load something on start from a core file.

Stadia Pro for April revealed, HITMAN gets a free starter pack and plenty more coming

Quoting: fredrikfritteAnyone onboard this?
Yep, I am ;)
And so far I'm having a great time. Using Chromium (for better OBS capture, as Chrome somehow doesn't get captured) and I'm playing games on Stadia on a regular basis. I'm lucky to have a decent connection, so the Stadia+ network monitor states mostly a latency of ~4ms (sometime even less, with a jitter buffer of ~28ms). So controls feel pretty snappy to me.
I've completed Metro Exodus on Stadia, and recently started a new play through of Everspace. I got both games to claim without additional costs via the Pro subscription.
The only things I bought on Stadia so far are the Everspace Encounters Expansion DLC as well as Cyberpunk 2077 (with the Google Chromecast bundle).

I was pretty surprised to see that e.g. Metro Exodus was using DXVK in the credits. Also that the Stadia edition of Everspace is using Vulkan directly (so it's not the same native Linux version as on Steam/GoG which is using OpenGL).

From my perspective I can totally recommend Stadia, especially if you are a Linux gamer and want to play games that don't have a native version and don't work with Proton or use EAC (e.g. Dead by Daylight, Destiny 2, etc.). But it depends on if your device can decode the stream properly (most modern devices can do that easily) and it depends on your Internet connection. But you can test Stadia for free for one month, so it might be worth a try.

PS: I'm also pretty surprised how well GeForce Now works ;) But many games aren't available there or got removed by the publisher. Which I don't understand, as you have to buy the game yourself anyways, it's just you're not installing it locally, but running it on the nVidia servers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
GeForce Now would've been the perfect alternative to play EAC games.

Unfortunately the new Bioshock: Return to Rapture mod from the workshop [External Link] doesn't work. I had to switch to the proton version, which still has issues with crashing on level transitions. Also using Vulkan as default renderer crashes the game with proton right away.

I wish they'd either fix the mod support in the Linux version, or fix Proton to make HL:A work flawless. Atm it's a... well, you need to be patient and have a high frustration level ;)

Also it's not possible for me to capture the native HL:A Vulkan window with OBS. Capturing a Vulkan DXVK window works. I capture the VR mirrow view, but though it has a higher FoV, it's lacking some nice features like smoothing the cam movement.

Otherwise HL:A is THE best VR game out there (at least story based VR game).

When I enable "Model" on goverlay, it used to show my current model (e.g. 1070), but now it shows only NVIDIA.
Any idea how to let it show the currently used model again? From what I've seen, it seems to check against pciids.txt, which can be updated by update-pciids, but that doesn't help, though my current model is listed in that file.

Valheim is just an incredible experience you need to play

Yeah yeah, okay okay... I'll finally buy it :D
Have been looking at it for quite a while, and just for the native Linux support I wanted to support the devs.
But I have no idea when I'm going to play it, so I was hesitating. Well, not anymore. It's bought. Thanks -.-

Open source mixed reality library StereoKit adds Linux support
2 Mar 2021 at 12:18 pm UTC Likes: 2

Mixed reality is key in showing VR games on stream. And there is a lack of support for that in games as well as 3rd party software on or for Linux. Hopefully this will change it a bit.

Quoting: EikeHow could you not recognize my ASCII art checkboxes?!? :D

This - obviously! :p - is what a radio button looks like:
( )
Haha xD
I did recognize the checkboxes, but the question "What's your favourite store to buy a game?" implied for me only one possible answer, which would result in a radio button ;)

Quoting: EikeYes, but it would have the problem the WINE question had back in the days: It would need frequent updates by the users, which most people probably won't do.
Hmmm, I thought the monthly friendly reminder would help with that. At least I'm quickly cross checking every time if my answers are still up to date. And I'm sure everybody else does so too  :woot:

"What's your favourite store to buy a game?"
[ ] Steam
[ ] GoG
[ ] Humble
[ ] Itch.io
[ ] 3rd party Steam key sellers
[ ] other

"Favourite" wouldn't be subject to frequent changes.
Maby one should add something like ("it it would be available at all stores") or the like.
How about a checkbox instead of a radio button? Because I'm not buying only in one store, though there might be the most favorite one.

But if the question would be more like: where did you buy games in the last month? And then you select the stores you used to buy something. And with buy I mean actually paying money, not grabbing the free EGS game. This could reflect if a store became suddenly interesting, because of an exclusive has been released (e.g. Stadia). Of course there should be a way for Linux users to use this store and play its games. But I think atm they are all somehow useable (lutris, heroic, Chrome browser)

What do you think about an option for subscriptions? Stadia Pro, Geforce Now, EA Access, etc.?

Wouldn't be a PC Info survey anymore, but well ;)
