Valve and others fined by the European Commission for 'geo-blocking' (updated)

I'm wondering which are those price differences within the EU? Checking SteamDB the countries using Euros aren't listed separately. So I guess at least via the Steam store those prices are all the same. Then it will be keys that you can buy through retail boxes, and I guess there the store which sells them defines the price. Having those region locked seems strange to me.
What we expect to come from Valve to help Linux gaming in 2021

Another small step... getting those people over, that are on the edge. Show them they can still play their games, but they are not relying on Windows. Here, have a USB stick, try it... if it works, you have no reason any more to stick with Windows and you can do the final migration step.
And getting more people over, even though little by little... will help reaching the critical mass. Won't happen soon, but hopefully eventually.
Unfortunately the rumour that Linux is not for gaming still sits in many people's head. Even if you tell them about which games all work on Linux right now. They are so hard-coded that games on PC only work on Windows, that they can't imagine playing on Linux. It's still the same statement from years ago: Linux is great for servers, but for gaming you still need Windows. Yeah, it's true for certain games (especially multiplayer with EAC), but not everybody wants to play those games. They always find a game, that doesn't work, and of course they want to play that game.
For me it changed... if a game doesn't work at all for me, be it native, via proton, via stadia or via geforce now... well, then I skip that game. But when having a discussion in a group of people, there is always that one person, that insists of playing this one game which doesn't work... and thus concluding for everybody: Linux is not for gaming m(
So, being able to show people, that it does work, that you can play your games on Linux... easily by just testing it with an USB stick, this might be a puzzle piece of the marketing Linux needs.

As doing the steps above manually became a bit repetitive, I created a script automating the steps:

As the PPA doesn't provide 32 bit libs, I'm using the git version only. So far it works with all games I tested (on Ubuntu).

EVERSPACE 2 begins Early Access soon, full Linux support in 2022

With VKD3D maturing, it works now even without the '-dx11' launch option very well.
With the former version of VKD3D the performance was unplayable, then an update improved the performance drastically, but the colors were "wrong", but that got fixed as well.
Still media foundation patches are needed though, so currently the best way to play it is to use Proton-5.21-GE-1 and update manually to VKD3D 2.1.0.
Afaik there was no Unreal Engine update implemented, so it should still work with the method above, when the early access version drops. Also iirc it will reset the savegames again, so we can experience the game from the beginning again.

It's recorded and played on Linux (but intro and outro done by somebody else, I don't have those skills).

Valve tweaks Proton Experimental further to get Red Dead Online running on Linux

Quoting: Liam DaweAt least it's the Online Part of RDR2, as the Steam Store Page states:Quoting: RoosterWould this apply to Red Dead Redemption 2? According to ProtonDB, that game is still a hit or miss, when it comes to running it through Proton. Can't personally say as I don't own it. Only picked up the online standalone to test as it's currently real cheap.
Notice: The content included with the standalone version of Red Dead Online is identical to what is included with Red Dead Redemption 2.But if that's also improving the Singleplayer... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Current state on Ubuntu 20.04 (the ppa is only 20.04+) after my experience is:
If you use the MangoHud github repo, it works for 32bit games ootb.
If you use the PPA, it works for 64bit games ootb.
But not for the other bitness.
You can make it work for both, if you duplicate the json file, rename the 'name' entry, and use absolute paths instead of the $LIB var.
Here are the steps that made it work for me:
This doesn't survive any updates via the PPA, and if using this with two .json files for the MangoHud Vulkan layer, you need to make sure $LIB is replaced, otherwise it seems to create a conflict that prevents games from starting.
Of course you could go with the github repo only, or create a script that does the steps above automatically etc.
But this is how I got it running right now for both 32bit and 64bit games.
edit: forgot to mention, Proton 5.13-4 and Steam Linux Runtime - Soldier beta

- clone (e.g. to ~/git), compile but not install MangoHud from github [External Link]
- add PPA from above and install mangohud. It doesn't contain the 32bit version of MangoHud though.
- duplicate MangoHud.json:
sudo cp /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/MangoHud{,32}.json - replace $LIB for 64bit:
sudo sed -i 's#\\$LIB#lib/x86_64-linux-gnu#' /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/MangoHud.json - rename layer for 32bit:
sudo sed -i 's/VK_LAYER_MANGOHUD_overlay/VK_LAYER_MANGOHUD_overlay_32/' /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/MangoHud32.json - replace $LIB for 32bit:
sudo sed -i 's#\\$LIB#lib/i386-linux-gnu#' /usr/share/vulkan/implicit_layer.d/MangoHud32.json - create 32bit lib folder:
sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mangohud - copy 32bit libs from mangohud:
sudo cp ~/git/MangoHud/build/release/usr/lib/mangohud/lib32/libMangoHud* /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mangohud/.
