I'm especially interested in the fsync fixes. Damn that gave me a hard time with Beat Saber, as the game itself runs perfect with fsync. But custom songs didn't load properly. And I didn't make the connection to fsync, as the game was running great with it. Took me a while to find out...
Also seeing D9VK is coming a long nicely is really great. The only game I used it for so far was Aliens: Colonial Marines, and the FPS are way higher with D9VK than with wine's dx9 implementation. There were some shader issues on the Alien models with 0.13f though, but still nicely playable.

No Man's Sky (experimental branch seems to have improvements for nvidia users, no workaround needed anymore)
And Beat Saber...

Hello Games appear to be keeping an eye on Steam Play with No Man's Sky, temp fix needed for NVIDIA

To get this compiling on my Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS I had to install these packages as well:
And yep, this gets rid of all performance issues with pancake mode (non-vr, didn't test VR yet). Approaching NPC vendors on stations, approaching planets... all now at ~60 FPS for me, where I had below 20 FPS for the NPC vendors and even below 10 FPS when approaching planets.
From what I've read, this is something the game is doing for nvidia cards that works on Windows but differently on Linux. Also their Vulkan engine is pretty fancy, which is surfacing some bugs in SteamVR for Linux.
But as Hello Games are really cool (and they've always been), I guess they'll take a look into it!

Thank you very much for creating the game, Zapa!
It's very cool to see devs really caring about Linux and gaming on Linux.
So I'm happy to have bought the game, especially as I am big space game fan ;)

Steam Play Proton 4.11-2 is out, upgrading DXVK and FAudio

Interesting side effect: looks like the steam client is aware of all available Proton versions, no matter if a particular version is installed or not. At least I could select 4.11-2, but it wasn't installed at all (4.2 was installed). So a game with force-selection 4.11 wasn't starting anymore, and I was pretty confused. Until I realized I had to install it manually from the tools section.

I've recently also only played Beat Saber, and iirc there is a new issue regarding the controller input API (#2836 [External Link]) which has to be fixed in Proton, but I was playing before in VR with Proton:
I still have more games to try in VR, but Beat Saber is taking already enough time to get up and running (mods, mixed reality view, etc) and it's still addicting way too much. It might be possible that some games break with SteamVR and/or Proton updates though.

Quoting: Sil_el_motdon't work at all. but there are still not many games that run for me. beatsaber and the ones from croteam. do you have more luck?K, I've read of one case so far that it was working, all others also report: though it's shown in the audio settings, it's not generating any input.

To the Linux Index users: does the microphone of the index work for you? I mean does it produce any amplitude on the input? It's detected for me, but it doesn't record any voice. That's why I now went for an AntLion Modmic wireless...

As Space Mercs [External Link] was just released, I gave that a shot. Pretty different to Everspace, especially the steering. But cool to read that a significant amount of Linux gamers bought it.
Clicking might then not be the right expression, but I was trying to further improve my stamina and aiming skills in Beat Saber [External Link]. Gosh, this game is so good. I still need to adapt to the Index controllers (fka knuckles) though. I get many bad cuts atm, especially on the higher difficulties. Another excuse is, that I'm old already :D
