Quoting: Geppeto35This and Outer Wilds... though the latter will come to Steam, and hopefully plays well at least with Proton.Quoting: liamdaweme too, i would say even my last year disappointment! But let's bet on steamplay or wine? :S:Quoting: Geppeto35Phoenix pointI'm still sad.

I'm really curious if we see any benefits in the future through Stadia. Be it direct or indirect. Though it's Linux powered, I'm afraid it's all a black box. So if we hear that Uplay+ will come to Stadia, I'd imagine, wow, they must have Linux versions of their games, so they could publish them on Steam? But I doubt they've ported their catalogue to Linux, so if they don't share any insight, we won't know how this works under the hood. Maybe they are wrapping it with wine/proton. Or Google has its own wrapper.
This causes again a kind of "meh" feeling... Microsoft acquiring more studios that used to release Linux versions, Epic catching more games for exclusivity and thus not giving us Linux version (in the first place), etc... but on the other hand this is really a high level of complaining. We do have many games to play, and until the Linux market share doesn't increase, it won't become a better situation for us. It's just this... "I want it too" thing. The new and shiny cool stuff. And someone else took it, so it's out of our reach.
Well, let's keep buying our games on Steam, so they keep improving Proton and we can at least play most of the Singleplayer things. I mean, even Microsoft is publishing big things on Steam, so chances are good we can play it via Proton...

Nice! Especially with that recent Steam VR Beta Update 1.5.6 [External Link], I'll have to check if it gives a performance increase in Beat Saber. Just a little bit more performance would be nice. That mixed reality thing is quite hungry for resources.

As I'm at a LAN party this weekend, we're playing quite a lot already:
So much about what I (we) have played so far, but there is more to come. We still have Blur and FlatOut 2 on our list... and we'll see what else. BlazeRush and ShellShock Live maybe.
- Evolve: Yep, that game, that was once promised to come to Linux, when Valve took off with all the Steam Universe anoucements, like Steam VR, Steam Controller, SteamOS, etc. It was the first asynchronous multiplayer game, but didn't work out as expected. They switched to Evolve Stage 2, which was Free2Play, but it also didn't work out. So they've shut down the game and its servers completely. Only owners of the former paid version can still play it, by switching to the Evolve legacy "beta" branch. So you can still play multiplayer via Steamworks and just invite your friends. And it works pretty well via proton. Not perfect, as you lose input after tabbing out and in, and there are some rare crashes here and there. But you can always reconnect, so it's not too bad. And this game is still much fun. If you're lucky to find a retail version, you can still play [External Link] the original Evolve.
- Insurgency: Looking forward to Sandstorm though. But in the meantime, we play its predecessor.
- Aliens vs. Predator (2010): Tricky in proton, but it does work on certain dates, if you copy the ceg executable from a wine or windows installation from the same pc. Works perfect in wine though. But I just realize, that it seems they've shut down VAC support for the dedicated server? It doesn't connect to steam anymore, though it was working perfect some weeks ago. We had to do it via friends invite as with Evolve... well.
- Dynablaster Revenge: A great bomberman clone. It has native Linux support
- Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne: Green Circle Tower Defense. And damn, we are still failing this map. I also have to try D9VK with this, as my FPS go down hard, whren there are too many creeps walking around.
- Beat Saber: Yep, they have a HTC Vive Pro here at the LAN party, even with the wireless module. That's pretty cool, but it's so hot in the sports hall here, I didn't play more than 2 songs... otherwise I would have melted :D

Quoting: liamdaweThis is indeed a very good deal, never heard of that store before though.Oh? They've been there for quite a while already, as their site states:
Authorized reseller since 2006Looks like I have my account there since november 2010, as I was buying some games in the uk version of the shop, which weren't available in germany then (e.g. Dead Island, which is available in germany since a few weeks now officially as well).

Aah... this is great news!
I'm wondering though if Valve is going to whitelist some more games.
They haven't whitelisted any games since 3.16-x.
But I guess giving support from Valve to too many titles would be too time consuming. I'm okay with that, protondb is a great source to check if a title is likely to work. And we do see many fixes for certain games, that aren't whitelisted. I also guess it would be wise to whitelist only games, that won't receive any updates anymore, so the base game is stable.
Nevertheless, I'm so grateful to be able to play so many games now on Linux, especially those triple-A titles like Rage 2. It would be interesting to get some statistics on the the Linux sales of those. I bet it's around the hw-survey stats, so probably less than 1% for Linux sales, but it would be interesting nevertheless.
That's also why I still like to buy games on Steam. Valve's support in the client (incl. Linux ofc), but also their store (they are the biggest, so they also get most of the critique), community stuff, etc. They use the extra money for improvements. E.g. Epic might take a lower cut, but they are also lacking so many features still, and I couldn't help it, but I had to laugh out loud when I heard you get banned when you buy too many titles within in a too little time slot on the Epic store. A lot to learn for them there. But they'll eventually get into it. And then we'll see if they can really compete with Steam.
Now I'm looking forward to play some games in Proton, and check if I can see a performance boost o/
