Rocket League Linux port is being worked on still, developers are listening

Quoting: SnevI'll probably buy the Steam controller when Rocket League comes out on linux as it's still free with the controller, right? But then it won't be a Linux sale... .
I don't think so. Rocket League and Portal 2 were the pre-order bonuses for pre-orderers that made the purchase prior to Aug 27th.
From Steam:
For customers who have already pre-ordered the Steam Controller or Steam Link on Steam prior to Aug 27th:
You will receive free copies of Rocket League and Portal 2. They will be added to your Steam account by September 4th.
They were advertised on Steam as being free bonuses right up until the official release day, not just until August 27th. But still, the answer is no, not free anymore. You snooze, you lose, as the saying goes.

For someone like me who more than likely wouldn't see the connection, yes. Fallout 4 being the 5th of the fallout franchise - (1/2/3/New Vegas/4) . . .?
As much as I'd love Fallout on Linux, that's a pretty big jump and has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the given hints.

Looks like it might be a linux/mac port. Does that help any of you sleuths?
That's where the entire article came from, so no, not really.

A Four Way Comparison For Alien: Isolation Shows Off The Performance Difference

I kinda don't care. Even on my aging GTX660OC it performs well enough that I can play it, and that's all I need. I mean... What's the alternative, not play it? Buy it for my dusty PS3? I'm sure as hell not going to install Windows again, after 13 years without it.

HOW did you make the FPS counter appear? :P

Wow, that's a huge hassle, and the average Steam Machine user is not going to want to do that (and they shouldn't have to). I don't understand why Big Picture / SteamOS modes can't just have a simple toggle via the in-game overlay.

I am not familiar with this YouTuber's body of work, though I recognize the name. He seems a little too emphatic over a game like this. Maybe it really is fun, but it doesn't look special. I bet this is the exact feeling people get when I praise Sproggiwood or Super Win the Game.

Falcon Northwest Is Another Company To Remove Their Steam Machine Offering For Now

The way I look at this is simply that Alienware stepped up where others did not. They were demoing at trade shows, they have done interviews, etc. It seems like they ought to be the ones to succeed here, even if their systems are rebranded Alphas, and not fully-upgradeable. Their system looks the nicest, too, at least to me.

I'm not saying I want them to be exclusive, just, they seem to have shown the most commitment so far. Perhaps Zotac would be second in line, though I've heard much less from them, and their systems don't look very pleasant.

A dozen or more retailers is a bit much for a launch like this... But I bet once the cream of the crop starts making money, we'll see more jump on board, including, probably, the ones who have jumped overboard already.

If I had the money, I'd buy an Alienware just to throw another +1 into the Steam Machines column. Valve will have to settle for me buying a Steam Controller, and buying Linux games, at least for now... My next big purchase might be a future Steam Machine, but that won't be for a while yet.

No wonder I couldn't find it, so buried :/
It's not THAT buried. :P I think it's a good spot for it. There was a brief period of time when it was completely missing, right after the redesign. THAT sucked!

Quoting: adolsonAlso, the Steam Controller battery icon DOES come up, but only when the battery level is getting low. FWIW, my Controller has been on 0% for two days straight now, and it's still running fine. The logo on the Controller fades in an out constantly as well, to alert me that it's about time to change these month-old batteries.
Good to know, but still weird they hide it considering how much wasted space there is on the UI.
Agreed. One of the feature requests I sent to Valve's hardware feedback email was the ability to see the battery levels from the in-game overlay, so we don't have to quit out and go into the settings menu, etc. So hopefully they'll add it, and/or add it as a toggleable option, in case some people don't like it.

Though, I'd point out that that upper area of the main screen does fill up a little, when you've got notifications, downloads, low battery, etc. But I am sure there's enough room for 1-4 indicators (and there's plenty of room in the overlay screen).

My Thoughts On SteamOS After Some Time With It

I have received the Steam Survey 5 times since I started using Steam (which is when the beta came out). I have never once got it while in Big Picture mode, which is what I use the majority of the time now.

The reasons I'm not using SteamOS primarily yet are to do with non-gaming needs. When/if they get apps for Netflix and YouTube and streaming from a MediaTomb server built into SteamOS, without having to use the browser or hack around at the system level, then I will use it. Until then, I'm more comfortable in a real Debian environment.
