D2R is the only non-Steam game I play. I don't really love the price, but at the same time, I see people who claim to have played the game for hundreds or thousands of hours complaining about it... Seems nuts to me. And I want to send the message that Steam is the way to go. Also, since there is no Blizzard.net launcher, that alone makes this appealing. And it apparently runs better on Steam Deck, now (seemed to run well enough for me before, though).
I don't know if I could still play it online with people using the base game from Battle.net, or if they'd have to buy the expansion, or if they'd have to buy the entire Steam version.

Quoting: ArdjeThe game looks nice. But I hate other players. I mean, there will probably always be at least one that I hate. Just like the Ark: SE GOL server where I spend my 1 hour free time every few days in, only to start all over again because of that one person. It has aggression-based matchmaking, so you'll rarely ever get shot by players if you don't shoot back. If you play in pairs, it's a bit tougher to find friendly pairs (let's say it's 50-50 chance), and in trios, well, I haven't tried it yet but I've heard it's pretty much all PvP.

Quoting: TarosReally should have a look at this game after having heard so much positive about this game. But maybe this was about the Battlefront 2 from 2005 xDI got it during the Steam Winter sale for like $5 CAD, and it is fantastic. I haven't looked into KYBER at all yet, the official servers are pretty active. But I will keep my eye on it.

It's a nice update, but the great stuff (new big ARC, new map) is coming in April!
Quoting: CaldathrasThis is not at all my kind of game, but I am continually blown away be the graphics quality, lighting and shading in the pictures GoL puts up.I'm not big into multiplayer, let alone multiplayer-only games. But this one, I broke down and bought it and it's hooked me. I'm up to 55 hours in about 3 weeks, which is quite high for me. I'm not great at the game, but it's a very satisfying game loop that has sucked me in.
The popular Arch-based distro CachyOS gets a new release with a significantly reworked installer

I've mostly used Debian since 2003, and Mandrake before that. A brief stint on Ubuntu, and I've tested a bunch of other distros for a day or so each. Recently I tried out CachyOS and it's still on my main system. Has it stolen me away from Debian? Maybe... Time will tell. Pretty happy with it so far (and I tried Bazzite and a Fedora right before trying Cachy).
Talking point - what have you been playing lately?

I bought it after the Game Awards. Didn't know much about it, but had it on my wishlist for months. I'm a few hours in and, well, I can see why it won so much.
Haven't tried on Deck yet.

Valve may be working on a new kind of Steam Machine

I seem to remember when the original Xbox came into the console market, people were saying similar things to what I've heard now: hardly anyone is gonna want a PC in a box that plugs into your TV... Yet here we are.
I stopped buying consoles (except the Switch, for my son) once Valve started supporting Linux. I don't have any interest in getting a new Sony or Microsoft system, but I would be very interested in a Valve one, for the right price and specs. And I've been using a PC hooked up to my TV as a game console ever since Big Picture Mode came out.
More than anything, I am mostly interested in the controller, though. I have one of the first Steam Controllers, and it was good, but the Steam Deck's design is more comprehensive. At the very least, I'll get one, and if it's good, I'll replace all my DualShock 4s with them. And possibly the Steam console, too.

Steam games will now need to fully disclose kernel-level anti-cheat on store pages

This is a good step, of course. But my only real problem with all this anti-cheat stuff is when it's added after release, after many people have purchased the game already, and then it makes it incompatible with Linux. I don't run Windows on my personal computers, and have not for over 22 years. If valve wants us to continue buying Windows games, when they allow the developer/publisher to implement stuff that completely breaks it on Linux, they should enable refunds in these circumstances, regardless of amount of play time or how long ago the purchase was. That's my opinion. And valve shouldn't be the ones to put that bill either, but the publisher who made that decision. It's the least they can do for taking away a game that I am enjoying. If they say, we don't support Linux so you shouldn't have bought it, then you wouldn't have had my money in the first place, so then just give it back and pretend like I never bought it in the first place then.

I've been thoroughly underwhelmed by the sales, these days. Over 100 things on my wishlist, and a lot of it isn't even discounted, and not a single thing discounted under 80%. I remember the good old days when you could clear out your wishlist for a nickel! Bah humbug!
I guess I should just play some of the games I already have.
