Tested native Detective Grimoire in Mint 19.2 with all updates installed and sound works good now! BUT, you can't grab some items and because of that game is unpassable.. So Proton is the only option for this game even though there is a native version.

It worked flawlessly on my system (Debian Mostly-Stretch at this time).

I had crackling sound recently in another game and could fix them by playing around with default-fragments and default-fragment-size-msec in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf . Obviously does not help with hotspots, though.

Maybe it's Linux Mint only bug, i don't know for sure, but my friend sad he had the same problems with it in Mint too.

Detective Grimoire is great game but at the same time it is very bad (are they test it at all?) port to Linux.. actually, D9VK means the vulkan implementation, some of the affected games should be games that already run, but now they will run faster.
when WINE add support for new stuff, that is when we got new games to work or work properly

In many cases these games runs not only faster but with fixed graphical bugs ;)
