Quoting: DrMcCoyYes, the Linux client was released in 2003. They originally said it's going to be ready for release in 2002, but that got pushed back. I remember waiting for it

And then the Linux client came and it didn't play any of the videos, because they were Bink files and RADGameTools had no Linux Bink library at that time. The community came up with an LD_PRELOAD hack that hooks into the game and starts mplayer. Of course, you had to re-encode that videos beforehand, using Wine and the RADGameTools toolset. Fun times.
Nice to read you again.

I remember you were involved in a free implementation of the Aurora Engine.

Native Linux games...

Well, that's the better we've received in many time.

What I really miss are Humble DRM Free bundles. The way it started it all.

Now Humble Bundle is a mere Steam keys reseller.

For that, I'm only buying book bundles since several years.

It's nice to get this.

But probably, Raspberry Pi 4 would be more usable if they manage to make video playback drivers work natively in 64 bit.

I don't like all of this emulation things.

It's OK for old games that doesn't make sense for the developer to port, because don't worth.

But at the same time desincentivates them to make native Linux version of new games.
