how about tuning the match making system in a way that rapidly pits people with a normal skill against each other?
Good people are challenged and cheaters remain mostly amongst each other.

Heroic Games Launcher for Epic Games on Linux gets some more fixes

Quoting: anewsonperhaps unpopular opinion: Heroic is currently the best of the Linux community game managers. It did it for me in a way that Lutris has not.
Did you notice the lack of original binaries used in the background or what exactly is it?

My launcher of choice in terms of design and features is the galaxy client at the moment.

Why would epic do that?
As long as enthusiasts do it for free they save money.
The important part I think is the community that needs to support the developer team, with money, game keys, good bug reports and appreciation.
That is more sustainable than epic buying them and ruining the open source multi store approach.

Quoting: syylkI still have Muon around for package management on my KDE system. Discover is nice, don't get me wrong, but it's not as flexible as good old Muon.
Unfortunately Muon doesn't handle the various packages like flatpak, app image and snaps and the stores where they are distributed.

That makes it difficult

Quoting: omer666Recent history showed people want to use Steam as they consider it the superior storefront.
Maybe, but having a monopoly situation where everything is dependent on Steam is no good outlook.
Especially if you can't start the game without the launcher being open is a bad habit these days.

It also makes using a nice alternative more difficult as you have to chain stuff together.

GOG finally update their store browsing with new filters

Quoting: NanobangSteam, itch.io, and Humble all let me scan game info without leaving the page. That's why I shop there for 99% of my games. The other 1% I get at GoG.
I have my issues with the design of the galaxy client on occasion as it tends to waste space but I don't have a problem with he website apart from not rendering HTML correctly on the wishlist page.
Especially not in a way that stops me from buying games.
It is more likely that that a certain just doesn't exist on gog, that is love to have it as a pre release I can still influence and got to steam instead or that there is no alternative to steam workshop.

What would you change? One page per game is what is common and I don't see where the design issue is that you mention

I hope that Microsofta recent move to opensource will open up blizzards games for native Linux versions and an open source version of battle. net

But I guess the main thing is better working conditions for all employees and that we still get the same great games over our old channels without steam and the ms store.
Funding is save now :)

Quoting: TheRiddickWish they push out a GOG Galaxy 2 for Linux. Its actually pretty useful launcher under Windows.
Wish they published an api for their website and shop so that others can interact with their backend directly . We have so many cool front ends out there in addition to galaxy

I think a quick access to a store and downloads in a common gui is necessary.
Why they have to cut Linux and mac builds though, I don't understand.
It would be fine to have Windows builds downloaded as a file from the website like before.
If they don't want to build a Linux or mac installer, fine.Someone will do it if they want to. They could open an api to support that and get away cheaply.

Requiring a middle man to launch a game is a plague.

Looks like Portal 2 is the first Steam Deck Verified title

I don't know really, have to try the thing first. I could imagine Hearthstone could be nice and other deck builders.
Maybe some top down games like glitch punk.
In docked mode a lot more becomes possible.
I want to see how feasible it is as a media center with Kodi and How well you can do other things like browse the Web, watch YouTube or run Citrix to work remotely.
This depends also on the Codecs that are done in hardware so we don't burn our knees with hot device.

The possibilities are almost infinite but what really happens, can't tell befor the hardware is here.
