Quoting: wvstolzingI've seen the latest version of Galaxy recently, and tbh I really was taken aback by how messy it looked & was to use. I believe its original promise was to be simple, functional, optional/'out of the way', etc. Pretty disappointing on that front as well.Apart from the front page of a game where the description is too small compared to the activities box, i like the general design and features and the possibility to connect other platforms like ubi into a common library.

Absolutely love that game.
It would be nice if they went the Skyrim and Witcher 3 way and worked together with the community for a final update with enhanced moddability and bug fixes and maybe offered the best mods as optional defaults with the authors permission.
The Community Highlander is nice but it doesn't have access to native functions and therefore we lack some things like being able to influence the "detection tiles" when changing the rules.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoValve has just 2 weeks for to solve the problem with the anti-cheats, MP4 and Windows Media Foundation files.Wine has a solid implementation of media foundation api calls. Since Proton uses wine as foundation, what is the problem?

I wish Valve would open up the Source and API for Steam so we can create the ultimate allinone store from the community.
It is just dedicated browser mostly anyway :D

Quoting: MayeulCKeep in mind that Heroic is unofficial, and could be cut out at any time... I prefer to remain on Steam for the time being !Two totally different tools.

how about tuning the match making system in a way that rapidly pits people with a normal skill against each other?

My launcher of choice in terms of design and features is the galaxy client at the moment.

Quoting: anewsonperhaps unpopular opinion: Heroic is currently the best of the Linux community game managers. It did it for me in a way that Lutris has not.Did you notice the lack of original binaries used in the background or what exactly is it?

Why would epic do that?
As long as enthusiasts do it for free they save money.
The important part I think is the community that needs to support the developer team, with money, game keys, good bug reports and appreciation.
That is more sustainable than epic buying them and ruining the open source multi store approach.

Quoting: syylkI still have Muon around for package management on my KDE system. Discover is nice, don't get me wrong, but it's not as flexible as good old Muon.Unfortunately Muon doesn't handle the various packages like flatpak, app image and snaps and the stores where they are distributed.

Especially if you can't start the game without the launcher being open is a bad habit these days.
It also makes using a nice alternative more difficult as you have to chain stuff together.

Quoting: omer666Recent history showed people want to use Steam as they consider it the superior storefront.Maybe, but having a monopoly situation where everything is dependent on Steam is no good outlook.

Especially not in a way that stops me from buying games.
It is more likely that that a certain just doesn't exist on gog, that is love to have it as a pre release I can still influence and got to steam instead or that there is no alternative to steam workshop.
What would you change? One page per game is what is common and I don't see where the design issue is that you mention

Quoting: NanobangSteam, itch.io, and Humble all let me scan game info without leaving the page. That's why I shop there for 99% of my games. The other 1% I get at GoG.I have my issues with the design of the galaxy client on occasion as it tends to waste space but I don't have a problem with he website apart from not rendering HTML correctly on the wishlist page.
