An interview with the developer of space sim Helium Rain who says ‘Linux gaming is alive and well’

Lovely attitude! I couldn't help but buy the game after reading that, even though it'll take a while before I have the time to play it.

The Linux-powered Ataribox Joystick has been revealed, looks delightfully retro and rather stylish

Quoting: DuncIt looks nice, evoking the old VCS stick in the same way the Box does the console, but I'm not convinced it'll be a good controller. The original one was terrible. (Seriously, even back in the day I hated it.) I'm sure there'll be support for other controllers, but they really should design a more traditional gamepad if it's going to be more than a retrogaming device.

Agreed, though this looks like a joystick I'd enjoy playing Lotus III on :D

Looks like the open-world FPS 'The Signal From Tölva' is now on Linux

Quoting: EikeDoes this game have a proper story and ending?
I'm fine with strolling aroung a lonely world - if I'm strolling for a reason...
I haven't played it myself, but I've seen mentions of the nice ending/final explanation the game supposedly has, so it sounds like there's at least a story end; don't know whether that's the end of the game though.

Corpse Party, a story-driven adventure and horror game can now be played on Linux

Quoting: fractalIs this the version that uses binaural audio? I recall playing it with headphones on PSP and was genuinely impressed.
From reading the Steam forums, this version would seem not to be the PSP version, but rather the "original" version. So, no fancy audio effect, a bit different soundtrack, less/different voice over and the original graphics (ie. less anime style and no scene pictures).
Now, I've never played any version of this (though I've wanted to), so I'm purely basing this on the descriptions of others.

Quoting: loggeThe most annoying thing I find is that you cannot start a "user defined" steam app via command line. I use "roommates" and kicked the bin out, and a link to kodi in... so I am playing "roommates" thousands of hours a year.

By user defined, I mean the "Add program to library" click.

Doesn't "ADD A GAME..."->"Add a Non-Steam Game" do exactly what you want?

It adds the game but there's no command line to tell Steam client to run it. You need GUI.

Ah, I see. I misunderstood the issue then :)

Quoting: wojtek88Have you ever read PSN terms of use? You do know you accepted them and you agreed to them? If so, why do you behave like a child and pretend that you do nothing wrong while breaking the rules you agreed to? ...
FWIW, Terms of Use aren't enforceable by law in any place I know of.

The latest Steam Hardware Survey shows Linux market-share has declined again

Quoting: ShmerlI think people should stop paying attention to Steam survey. Its usefulness is close to zero.
This, so many times, this.
Since we know that the survey is given far less frequently to Linux users and we know nothing of how the numbers add up otherwise, it is literally a vague percentage of an unknown number; it is completely useless.

Now, it might possibly be used to indicate minor trends in our percentage, but since we still don't know the total, we can't even be sure of that.

Quoting: sr_ls_boyI read that Prey is working.

That's about the demo. The full game is denuvo infected, so won't work.

Nothing stopping a person buying it legit
Then downloading the cracked copy with DENUVO removed
and playing the whole thing single player offline

Oddly enough, I believe that's still illegal in the USA. You should be fine in Europe, though, as long as you get the cracked copy in a way that doesn't help spread it (ie. no torrents).
Also, I personally would stay away from giving money for a lesser product. If I can buy the game and play it with full functionality in Wine, then that makes sense (still not something I'm entirely comfortable with), but paying for something one will be forced to play offline doesn't (disclaimer: I have no idea if there's an online component in Prey, I'm speaking more generally - also I don't mean to say that one should just get it illegally, I mean I would stay away from the game completely until it was properly working).
