The Linux port of Xenonauts is not supported and was only made for 'legacy customers'

No matter what the case ends up being right now, this is not the way to handle it. What should have been done was to make an announcement explaining any cuts in support, what is and isn't considered supported anymore and why. Cutting down on support for one's last game to focus on a new one makes sense, but selling a game and then stating it's not supported (in a different place than the store no less), is absolutely not okay.
If they really want to go down this route, they should at least put a sticker on the Steam / GOG page explaining that they don't have the manpower (or whatever) to support the Linux version at this time and offer it at half price in exchange - for existing Linux users, maybe offer Xenonauts 2 for free or at half price as an apology.
For what it's worth, I backed their original Kickstarter precisely because they promised a Linux version (right after they posted "We’ll also be putting female soldiers into the game, and providing a Mac and Linux version of the game too." )

Quoting: sigzThat is absolutely correct. The support for the existing hardware is superb though :)Quoting: CybolicThe software support is amazing! It works out of the box, but there's also semi-official software for it [External Link] (official in that Roccat provided the developer, Stefan Achatz, with access to their hardware and some guidance as well as a license to use their files, but it's not developed by them).Stefan Achatz has stopped maintaining this project, he will not provide drivers for new hardware.

The software lets you bind all buttons (including in ways apparently not possible in Windows), change both lights and their effects, change sensitivity of both axis separately, switch polling rate and CPI and bind up to five profiles with auto-switching based on process name, executable file or window title (with regex support); oh, and it also supports that ridiculous audio announcer functionality for extra 1337ness when switching settings :P
If you're on Arch, it's just a pacman -S roccat-tools-nyth away :)
I also practically wrote a mini-review of it on page 3 of these comments, if you want to know more about its functionality.

I have the Nyth and it's just about perfect.[...]]...] I just discovered the Nyth reading your post and I'm really interested in it. How's the software support for it under Linux ? Does Roccat provide something to configure it or is there a non-official Linux tool that does the trick ?

Does it come with friends? ;) In other words, is there any sort of server browser that has a GamingOnLinux name on the list?

Quoting: nitroflowPrecisely! My Nyth desktop profile is set up to switch desktops, move windows between desktops, cycle volume up and down, mute on/off, play/pause and next/prev music, switch between tabs, press ctrl (excellent for zooming in various apps), press enter/escape (great for a quick dialogue response), do horizontal scroll, stop/reload/back/forward in web pages/file manager and alt tab cycle (with ctrl+alt tab as an extra bonus). Having all that readily available from a single profile is frankly amazing - and the buttons are easy to find and press as well! :DQuoting: CybolicI've got a Roccat Nyth myself [...]I can adjust volume, mute, play/pause, cycle up and down gnome desktops, bring out activities overview and push to talk on discord all with a single profile with my tyon!

I've got a Roccat Nyth myself, after my R.A.T. 9 developed hardware issues in both mouse and receiver. Before that I had two Logitech MX 1000, which have excellent ergonomics and a nice scroll wheel. The R.A.T. 9 was extremely comfortable and the horizontal scroll was a great feature, but the Roccat Nyth is the first time I've been truly in love with a mouse :D
I know most people probably look at the modular side buttons and think it's a ridiculous gaming gimmick, but pairing it with Linux's virtual desktops/workspaces and general keyboard friendliness opens up a plethora of opportunities to be able to do practically anything regardless of whether I have both hands on the keyboard or one on the mouse. It really is amazing :D (though it is a bit sensitive to specks of dust)
EDIT: Oh, and the software is frakking perfect ;)

The gameplay looks pretty good! Fluid motion, nice mechanics, everything looks very playable, but I'm already getting a bit of a headache just watching the trailer due to the giant pixels moving by so fast. I think if they upped the resolution a bit, maybe going for more of an Amiga 1200 / AGA look, it would work much better!

The Steam Survey is first of all a survey, not a statistic, and secondly, it's a hardware survey, not an operating system survey.
It has two uses:
Neither of these are a statistic for the number of Linux users on Steam.
Now, granted, it does mention operating systems, but it's not the focus and it's well known that the numbers are skewed, and not in Linux's favour (less Linux users are asked and SteamOS is not counted at all).
I'm not trying to be harsh here, but I do believe that the perceived relevance of the "Steam Hardware Survey" as any sort of metric for the number of Linux users is largely useless and ultimately harmful for our community.

Quoting: LeopardNetmarket Share statics is doesn't mean anything. They're all looking to Steam Survey and that is right thing to do. Not every user play games on Mac and Linux also even Windows.Sorry, but no.

It has two uses:
- What hardware does a random selection of Steam users have?
- What internet speed does a random selection of Steam users have?

Quoting: Ardje[...]That's what I did, but for some reason it won't work with Argos. I assume it's due to per-terminal login / "tty_tickets", which I don't want to disable completely.
That's the easiest way to perform a script as root: make the script safe, and then hand out rights to users to run that script.
