Valve gets pressured by payment processors with a new rule for game devs and various adult games removed

Extremely theoretical, borderline impossible, silver-lining: Steam/Valve is big enough to potentially figure out a different solution to payment than the existing censoring payment providers.

Now, I don't see this happening as it's a huge undertaking and would probably require launching a sub-company for that specific purpose, but I would really, really like to see someone of Valve's capability (and morals) come along and push PayPal out of their spot and just be a payment processor.

The 3dSen emulator turning NES games into 3D voxel dioramas 1.0 is out now - we have keys to give away

I didn't have NES growing up, but instead spent my time with the ZX Spectrum and later the Amiga, but I went back to check out the catalogue years later and did quite like the atmosphere and gameplay of Metroid, so that'll be my pick (and I see that it's also supported by 3dSen).

ScummVM announces support for Another World (Out of This World)

Your commodore bias is showing! I had both an Atari ST and an Amiga 1020 and somehow ended up with this game on both. The ST version felt much snappier, compared to the Amiga's slightly sluggish controls.
I cannot disagree with that! I meant "lesser" in terms of technical fidelity, as the Amiga version had better quality sound and, if I'm not mistaken, better colours. I never did play it on the Atari ST, so I don't know how different it felt, but yes, the Amiga version did feel a bit sluggish. That said, so does the Anniversary Edition (to me at least), so maybe I'm just bad at the game :grin:

Currently, only the original DOS and Windows 3.1 versions are supported
Grumble, grumble... the original version is the Amiga version (though the lesser Atari ST version released at the same time).
Damn IBM-compatibles trying to snatch all the glory....

@Vasya Sovari
Those ghost penguins are my #1 favourite thing in a game ever. Bring it
The "Larval Stalker", "Demon Child" or "Mumbler" (US)? It's going to be interesting to see if they can go back to the original design of them being closer to ghost children this time around.

In general, I'm very curious how they're going to handle the monster designs, as a modern one-to-one interpretation might end up being a bit too similar to something like American McGee's Alice.

Tempest Rising is truly an RTS worth your time for C&C fans

@emigrant
Normally, I would have assumed that this was just to be able to submit a crash-report or otherwise report on the game's performance on different hardware, but the EULA does actually say
the User permits and COMPANY has right to automatically collect, store, process, submit to third party for achieving such purpose areas of User Device RAM used by the User simultaneously with the launch and/or operation of the Game
So, whatever passwords or other private information floating around in RAM while you're playing the game? You've just signed over the right for that information to be shared with third parties. Yeah, you're right; I won't be touching this until the EULA changes (not that it's even legal in its current state, but still).

CRSED: Cuisine Royale devs confirm end of Linux / Steam Deck support

Well, on the upside, this is the first time I've seen an announcement of removing Linux support be universally panned in the comments on Steam. Guess the winds have changed!

Create a pocket-sized garden inside a magical toy in Tiny Garden out now with Linux support

It looks lovely, but this is one where I certainly hope the accessibility options and Steam Deck text sizes are properly implemented, as those "history" letters sure are hard to read, even on my giant desktop screen.
Very cute idea though! Would make for a lovely little real-world crafting project as well.

Concerning switching to LibreOffice from MS Office, I can add that my partner had a similar stipulation at her job, that all employees had to use MS Office. However, since there was no mandate as to which version they had to use, files were (surprisingly, really) often incompatible between versions and she eventually switched to LibreOffice, despite not officially being allowed to. There hasn't been a single case of file version incompatibility since she switched.
Now, obviously this is just one experience, and incompatibilities may be a real concern in other instances, but it is certainly possible for LibreOffice to be a better MS Office than MS Office.
I echo @Pyrate's suggestion: try it out on Windows and see if it's a viable alternative, at least then you'll know if fully switching to Linux is a possibility.

KDE Plasma 6.3 is out now with big fractional scaling improvements, drawing tablet upgrades and more

the Kickoff launcher to go through applications had a tweak to only change category (Games, Graphics, Office etc) when you click on them, instead of flicking through constantly whenever you hover the mouse
Between this and defaulting to double-click to open files and folders we can now get RSI in only a quarter of the time it took before, great job KDE devs!
Both those options can be set back to their previous defaults and the double-click setting stays that way if you're upgrading instead of re-installing.
