Am I missing something? I thought there was an exception in the DMCA for exactly this - making software more useful to end users.

A market is where you exchange value for value.
You can't exactly say that giving away for free something is exploiting a market, because then you do not understand capitalism. Exploiting means you gain something of monetary value. None of the hackers gained something.

Eh... there's a whole cesspool full of commerce clause case law about this. If you are giving something away that someone else intended to profit from, you are a participant in the market because you are reducing demand for the commercial product.

I've encountered many people who take responsibility for criminal acts, and many who recognize that they did a bad thing. I have never met a person who considers himself a "bad guy" because of his criminal record. Further, I have rarely met a person I didn't think had the capacity for good, even if they had an extensive history of doing bad things.

Really you're going off on a tangent here. You just said that these people recognize that they did a bad thing. That means that they know that while they were doing it they were 'being the bad guy.' That's not the same thing as a judgment of their life's worth, i.e. saying that they are 'bad guys' altogether. I didn't pick out that terminology; that's just the name of the bundle. This isn't a philosophical discussion on whether people can find redemption for their crimes. I just don't enjoy playing games where my motive in the game is completely selfish/criminal/evil.

It's a philosophical discussion on the nature of good and evil, and you started it. Your claim was that there are some situations where the morality of your actions is subjective. The fact is, that's most situations. Very few people do things with the intention of being evil. You then equated breaking laws with being "bad," which is a whole other can of worms. But I'll leave it at that.

From my understanding of that, it comes from China having the highest concentration of rare metals in the world. The ones that are used in all of our electronics. So a mix of luck and technology is what is making their economy boom. Everyone else is just kind of screwed. It is the same sort of thing with oil and the middle east.

Rocket League lost Linux support. Period.

EGS is NOT Tencent, Tencent is NOT the CCP.
A Netherlands company has the 30% of Tencent (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosus), but China haters won't tell you that, they have the major stake on Tencent, much more than the actual founder Ma Huateng (he has like 9%).

You should assume that big multinational corporations based in China are more or less directly controlled by the CCP, and whether or not you think this presents security or privacy concerns, or whether you believe they're putting propaganda into their products, or whether you believe you would be affected by such propaganda, you should not want to support the CCP financially, either. You apparently admire how they do "business," which is great if you ignore all the human rights abuses. Honestly, making excuses for Tencent is a pretty damned weird position to take. They don't need your help.

Only a little, when you consider the things that Facebook has enabled, and profited from, worldwide in the past few years. The destabilization of democracies perpetrated by certain bad actors would be possible without Facebook, but it would definitely be a lot harder and more expensive.

I have been getting into Paradox games lately, but man, I have never played anything as complex as these games. Crusader Kings II is weird and cool, Stellaris is more accessible, but Europa Universalis IV is just really hard to wrap my head around. The last thing I played otherwise was Total War: Warhammer.

And on top of that they are hiding the prices of the games until your signed up, that is so shady that if not for the fact that is a subdomain to google.com I'd have said this was 100% a scam :|

The reason they hide the prices of the games is because no one would sign up otherwise. Hard to imagine someone getting excited to pay full retail price for a AAA game they can't even install on a service that is getting virtually no good press and, given Google's track record, may be shuttered at any moment.

I wouldn't be shocked if eventually it was rebranded as Google Hangouts Games... unfortunately while your contacts transfer to the new service, your game "purchases" don't.

I looked into the TW:WH games when Civ 6 multiplayer got broken, only to find that they don't have cross-platform play at all. I ended up buying both of them on the current sale anyway, because they seem like a fun rabbit hole to go down and because I like supporting Feral, but I really do wish cross-platform multiplayer was an option.
