Runs great so far (with the -C option as per https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35194 [External Link]. When that bug is fixed, it'll likely be flawless. :)
Earth Liberation, a surprisingly good looking traditional RTS should come to Linux

As someone currently playing the old Emperor: Battle for Dune under Wine, I say... bring on the class-style RTS games! Instant purchase from me. :)

Too bad I've already finished all the C&C games, but I'll take whatever RTS I can get my hands on provided it has a good single player campaign experience. I've also been desperately waiting for Grey Goo to run under Wine (since the devs have shown no interest in SteamOS), and it's almost there - something I test regularly. It's been on sale for $6 with all DLC in a bundle with a bunch of other games (over at BundleStars IIRC), so will be dirt cheap when Wine fully supports it.

Quoting: subSuch a great game. Yet, not for me. Damn, I still want a great story-based single player campaign,My order of Emperor: Battle for Dune arrived today from eBay. It's supposed to work great with Wine. Just finished Dune 2000 the same way.
and I'd pay extra for it.

The Linux & SteamOS port of Killing Floor 2 has been put on hold, it needs a developer

But Tripwire added support for GNU/Linux well after release, so I figured having them make a new game would see them ensure GNU/Linux was a priority from day one (they said as much at the time) and hence make KF2 on GNU/Linux a first class experience. Obviously, it didn't work out that way at all. What's worse is that the game remains unplayable under Wine to this day. Complete waste of money, and that was the first and last time I got burned by purchasing a game based on a promise.

Quoting: GuestThis is the last Early Access game on Linux promise I bought, sadly I had to learn the hard way. No tux = no bux.Same story here. I put hundreds of hours into KF1. Most of the time I was playing under Wine since that gave a better experience than the native port (which wasn't even compatible with new game modes due to game breaking bugs).

The Humble Store is having a huge birthday sale, tons of stuff for insanely cheap

Also doesn't explain why didn't they say up front that they wouldn't be giving the Steam key.
My guess is that they probably thought there is a chance it might not activate in Australia (which is wrong anyway), so they wanted to save a few bucks on a Steam key. I told them as such, and they didn't deny it.

Quoting: GuestAFAIK, Hotline Miami 2 is banned from Australia. Blame your system, not Humble Bundle or Steam. Then why did they give me the DRM-free version?

Quoting: GuestAlso the developers said, that they don't bite if people from Australia pirate the game, so go for it! :) Sadly Australian game classification system is crazy...Humble Bundle would be a digital purchase from the US, not Australia. But again, they still gave me a non-Steam version. Why do that if they have a problem with the Australian classification system? And why wouldn't their support team straight up tell me what the problem was?

User Editorial: Steam Machines & SteamOS after a year in the wild

On this day, last year, Valve released Steam Machines onto the world...Uh, no - not a worldwide launch by any means. Still no sight of Steam hardware down under, for example. Does anyone actually have access to the hardware in local stores outside of North America and some parts of Europe?

I don't buy from Humble Bundle any more. I purchased the the Humble Monthly a few weeks back when they gave away Grim Dawn (works flawlessly under Wine), Slime Ranchers, Hotline Miami 2, etc. The game that was most interesting to me (outside of Grim Dawn) was HM2 since I already finished the first one, but they refused to give me a Steam code.
They gave me the regular DRM free download, but no Steam code because they said it's not available in my region. I'm in Australia, and I know people can activate Steam codes for the game fine in Australia - no VPN required. But whether or not I can activate the game is my problem. I paid the same money as everyone else, so I should get the same deal as everyone else. Heck, I was even using an IP in the USA, but it didn't matter since the account was created with an Australian IP.
So I opened a support ticket, went back and forth with them a bunch of times, and they said they have rules that say they are not allowed to give Steam codes for some games to people in certain countries, even if they only suspect they might be in those countries. I looked through the Terms of Service to try and find out what the support guy was talking about... didn't see anything. So I asked about this and he basically didn't care and essentially said "doesn't matter, not happening". Apparently Humble Bundle think it's cool to discriminate.
Screw 'em. I'll just get whatever I want from Steam (with a VPN or via SteamBitShop.com if need be). I've already unsubscribed from their mailing list that I've been on for the last four years, and have no intention of going back to purchase from them - sale or not.

Wine allowed me to re-live a gaming experience I had from when I was a child on Linux

Since I had already completed the game, I never looked at the native GNU/Linux port that came out (years?) later. Good to know I didn't miss anything.

Quoting: crt0megaI bought Dead Island some time ago and its native "port" runs like arse.Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide are two games I purchased at launch (have the retail boxes on the shelf), and played entirely under Wine. I actually took a chance with Riptide and pre-ordered to get a bonus Turtle Beach headset, and it paid off - worked with Wine on launch without issue. Of course, that was back in the d3d9 days.

Steam store updated, Valve still haven't fixed filtering to only Linux games on the homepage

Just about to post this, but Guppy beat me to it. Pretty sure they would be paid promotions.

I love Dark Reign. I own a retail box copy, and I bought it again on GOG some years ago (for the Shadowhand expansion). It's awesome. I think the GOG version under Wine had a problem with the soundtrack not working, IIRC.
As of late, I've been playing a game I really wanted to play back in the day but never got to. Dune 2000. I've almost finished the campaign for all three houses under Wine with the High Resolution patch (still doing Harkonnen, just started level 8 of 9). I also just found out about Emperor: Battle for Dune the other day too, so that's something else I've picked up on Ebay (it has a Gold score on the Wine appdb page).
Really stoked I got Dune 2000 brand new too - an amazing find for such an old game. Still in the shrink wrap with the original cardboard box, huge manual, etc. Quite nostalgic.
