A three-way look at Rocket League on Linux, with D9VK versus Linux Native
3 Aug 2019 at 12:07 pm UTC
and imho... i think native looks much better
3 Aug 2019 at 12:07 pm UTC
Quoting: liamdawebut it still explains why native is slowerQuoting: mylkaam i the only one looking at the background? That is actually how it is supposed to look. The D9VK version looks almost the same as it does on Windows. The Linux version is way too bright and has no fog apparently.
D9VK shows absolutely nothing..... of course it is faster
just look at the 1 second..... its just dark... nothing to render
Edit: Added a second video to also compare, on a different map, along with some slight adjustments to the wording in places to accommodate it.

Quoting: massatt212let me ask somethingjust add valves PPA, but make sure you havent another mesa PPA installed. purge the old one firstQuoting: x_winglet me ask somethingQuoting: massatt212ACO doesn't seem to work on Ubuntu Based OS still stutter a lot (for me)No problems at all for me.
Just installed Manjaro and make a PKG and waw I mean WAW its really smooth
Idk is anyone else is getting problems with Ubuntu and ACO drivers
Worth mention: I compiled them. Maybe is a problem with the ppa version?
does the ubuntu version need a Mesa Driver to install ACO ontop of or its compiles with everything or do i have to install Mesa then install ACO ?

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoMurdered Soul Suspect in DX11 still crash when entering the cemetery.seems to be an nvidia problem not DXVK, or proton
In DX9 mode, the game works perfect with d9vk... and with 60fps, unlike the dx11 mode that is capped at 30fps.

Quoting: X6205Not sure if i understand this.. It surely looks great, but if shaders are compiled only on first run and Steam client has even his own shader cache for distributing shaders, why they are putting man-hours into this? Does it improve also in-game performace after all shaders are compiled?he tried it with GTA5

i didnt have 60fps back then, even without recording
and i wouldnt say my 580 is powerful. it is a nice card, but mid end

Quoting: GuestI'm not saying you can't get 60 FPS with a powerful graphics card, that's true for all poorly performing games. I'm saying the Windows version gives you twice the FPS (go ahead and try it yourself via Proton in Steam if you want to see), so the Linux version has massive graphics optimizations that are needed especially for anyone on a lower end card.as a matter of fact.... i already tried supraland, when it came out with proton
As for which rendering API it's using, if for your HUD you need to pass a library to the game you're wanting to run it on, just because that fails to work doesn't mean it's not that API. Several things can interfere with passing the lib to the game executable which is why HUDs can be a pain to get working with some games. Unless you're sure that your HUD works in all OpenGL games no matter what, a better method to verify would be to uninstall Vulkan I'd think: https://linuxconfig.org/install-and-test-vulkan-on-linux [External Link]

i tried it again and i have around 80-100 fps in the first bigger area, with a rx580 and valves ACO compiler
edit
vsync makes performance worse, but "max fps 60" gives me 60fps
here is a video with and without vsync. it is not straight 60 because of recording, but i think youll see the difference

Quoting: GuestAre they going to upgrade UE to a version with Vulkan perhaps so it gets good performance? Because last time I checked, performance is abysmal. If Epic doesn't fix UE, of course they have no possibility of doing so, but if Epic does make UE perform well then I hope they upgrade to that. Otherwise, maybe their next game will perform better.Supraland uses vulkan. at least galium hud doesnt work, so it is not opengl
