I tested Proton 4.15 GE (which has d9vk on by default) and Gothic 3 still is very sluggish, so I guess improvements won't come fast. I also tested it on intel and got exactly the same frame rate so it doesn't seem to be GPU related.

I tried Path of Exile with 4.15-GE and it works out of the box without crashes or any problems! A few months ago when I was testing PoE it was difficult to run with various options and then it was crashing so frequently that the game wasn't really playable. With this new Proton build, everything runs great, I played several hours and no single crash or any issue. Even FPS were close to 60 (previously this was a huge problem). The progress is amazing!

I just played Mass Effect for over an hour with Proton 4.11 and PROTON_USE_D9VK and it all works fine! Previously the game had occasional strong FPS drops in some situations plus crashes every 5-15 or 30 min more or less. Now there were no crashes and stable ca. 60+ FPS. To be completely sure that the common issues (many experience it) I have to test it longer but so far it's great.
It's hard to judge whether it's better wine or D9VK, maybe both :). Anyway, it's awesome!

Sorry for noob question, but how do I use it in latest Wine or Wine Staging (4.9-1)?
Someone here mentioned a DXVK version dropdown. Where? In wine.cfg I don't see it.

Did you guys see this interview? GOG Galaxy 2 will be open source and they are expecting the community to improve it, so it's not that impossible to see Linux version in the near feature, maybe not the official one but it will be done knowing the Linux community ;) :

I can't wait to run Massive Effect on it. It still has issues and crashes on wine.
The open source game manager Lutris had another sweet update recently

I couldn't figure out how to run Neverwinter Nights on Lutris :(. I just don't get the options and the whole interface although it supposes to be a whole lot better than before. It's still unfriendly to me. In the end, I tend to avoid GOD games if they have no Linux support because I just don't know how to play them. On Steam it's easy and no brainer. I don't have time or patience to figure it out so Steam with Proton is the king.

That's strange. I played Witcher 3 with Steam Controller and it worked out of the box. No tinkering, no setting, just plug and play.
@Torrit).
The only downside is - I couldn't get SteamController to work properly (not a big loss though as my main gamepad Logitech F710 worked out of the box flawlessly

That was it! This was the update I was waiting for! I tested Witcher 3 on Proton 3.16-5-Beta and all invisible monsters became visible now! Finally!
From now on Witcher 3 is 100% compatible. All just works as it should.

I don't think it's because Nvidia or at least not directly. Linux architecture and used software aren't allowing for using Optimus cards like on Windows. However, I'm on Optimus Alienware 17 R3 laptop and it works quite nicely on Manjaro. For Vulkan support I use nvidia-xrun and I can't complain aside it's a bit hacky and requires few additional steps before launching Steam.
I wrote a guide for nvidia-xrun on bumblebee for Arch-based systems if someone is interested.
