I would like to see a new game from Valve, released on GNU/Linux only.

I didn't really know the details of this controversy. I checked the open letter, and one of the things RMS is accused of is:
RMS has spent years on a campaign against using people’s correct pronouns. This is poorly disguised transphobia. In the original publication of the GNU Kind Communication Guidelines, he said “there are various ways to express gender neutrality in third-person singular pronouns in English; you do not have to use ‘they.’”14 This text has since been updated, but is still transphobic.Seriously? Anybody else smells cancel culture?

Great patch, but unfortunately they didn't test it at all with GNU/Linux, since there is a macroscoping bug. Levied armies all come with a single troop type, rather than with a mix of them. It seems to be working fine on Windows, judging from the screenshots.
Speculation: porting studio Feral Interactive could be in some trouble (updated: they're fine)

As Phoronix noted, Feral has terrible employee reviews on Glassdoor. There is something not working there.

Quoting: LeopardDXVK was beating their native VLK renderer so i think that is not a surprise. And i think their future games with VLK will always be subpar. Since those are renderers that made up with Stadia in mind , not desktop consumers. So no need for optimization, Stadia can run it up anyway.I don't think this is warranted. Actually, the opposite is true: the more optimization they can squeeze out of Stadia, the less resources needed, the more profit.

In a few years you will find the same for EU4 and CK2, once development has stopped.

As far as I am concerned, considering the hundreds of hours that I happily spent with Stellaris so far, I still got far more enjoyment for money than the largest part of the other games in my library.

Quoting: MaathSince I'm a gamer from when games came on plastic cartridges, I would choose A. Or perhaps C. From the gamer's perspective, either of those is identical, if you aren't following their development. Then I have good news for you: Paradox's model fits you perfectly. Or perhaps I would choose E: make the game and all DLC free-to-play, and let the whales subsidize it by buying skins. I'm currently playing Path of Exile, entirely for free, and I can't possibly imagine this game giving me $173 worth of value. The current gaming industry is weird, to say the least.

The point is, having a third party try to patch up an existing code base may not lead to best results, unsurprisingly.

Quoting: GuestI am not really into marketing names; the game runs on the GNU os (I run it on my computer), the Linux kernel by itself won't help (else it would run on my phone too).Quoting: TeodosioThis is NOT the way to support GNU. I would take Proton over this one hundred times. I hope Firaxis will do the work in-house for their next game.Well, this is about a game's Linux port, not about its GNU port...
