Considering where we were coming from just a few years ago (2016~2017), we have made a long way.
Recently, I have tried the Proton custom releases from Glorious Eggroll (GitHub [External Link]), and I'm actually surprised on the improvements they can bring in games.
I used to have no audio at all with games such as Vampyr (GOG release) [External Link] with standard Wine or Proton, and these custom enhancements have definitively fixed it.
I'm honestly pretty excited on riding this current wave of experiments and tuning for improving your gaming experience, in a way to make it the safest possible for yourself. Looking forward to the next improvements that these technologies would bring!

Quoting: facelessI’ve been playing shadow of the Tomb Raider! Fantastic game that gives me the vibe of first reboot game that Rise didn’t! Also, it’s just gorgeous!Honestly I really enjoyed the environment and the setting of SoTR. Setting it up in pre-Colombian Latin-America was a very good choice. I couldn't say the same thing about the game storyline and pacing though. It felt awesome but short.

Quoting: ShmerlAnyway, do we need to care about Teams? Just another proprietary, non federated, walled garden IM service, that's not solving but proliferating the problem of IM fragmentation. Matrix is much better approach. For personal use no, we don't. For a B2B/Corporate collaboration scenario where all the employees are using Microsoft products as a standard de facto, yes we do.

My case is similar: when I'm travelling with my personal Linux laptop I usually connect to my Company's Windows Terminal Desktop. I could probably find Teams for Linux a good solution for not logging at all on the WTD in the first place.

Quoting: GuestDon't underestimate how big a deal this is for enterprise, a very important market as far as the desktop is concerned. Between this and Citrix I am almost at a point where I could use my linux PC for work given how many of our tools are online.Completely agree. The real point that a few people have missed is that there will always be a better option for chats, calls, collaboration and office suite with native Linux apps if we are considering just the personal use. The Linux support for Microsoft Teams is pretty much designed for those B2B or Corporate scenarios where Linux users can chat, share the screen and collaborate on documents with Windows users.

The only change that I have performed is to manually download and install the proprietary NVidia GPU driver, but it is an activity with negligible effort.
In case I need an updated version of Wine or DXVK, I'll let Lutris download and deploy it in the $HOME/.local directory, and use it specifically for that game.
And (a little OT) I would say that defeating Gyoubu Oniwa yesterday night was actually an awesome satisfaction:

Quoting: da_habakukfor gaming sometimes i wonder if it wouldnt be better to be more bleeding edge with archlinux etc..They weren't for me. Debian Buster has been the best solution ever for my computer. I wouldn't recommend to go for the Testing repository now, as the current Stable branch is quite recent. Probably in the next year.
my mesa is still on 1.8.

I read about the development story in Jason Schreier's book Blood, Sweat, and Pixels, and it left me very impressed for all the effort made by Eric Barone in all the years before the game release.
