Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor gets a release date and Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core gets a new trailer
11 Apr 2025 at 3:13 pm UTC

I have enjoyed playing Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor on my SteamDeck. The gameplay mechanics don't involve using to controller for dashing or skill utilization, which makes the game doable for a "keep it simple for the uncoordinated" gamer like myself. The character classes, voice overs and biomes are well done. My only complaint is the high battery consumption on my SteamDeck LCD.

I have played Deep Rock Galactic also, but not on the SteamDeck. I did not find gameplay as intriguing as Survivors. Perhaps the addition of multiplayer might entice me back into playing again.

Must-have Steam Deck games under £10 in the Steam Spring Sale 2025

There are a number of games on this list that I had not considered playing on my Deck. Thanks Liam!

I enjoy playing bullet heaven/hell games on the Steam Deck. My favorite is:

Steam Next Fest - February 2025 is live with tons of demos
25 Feb 2025 at 5:51 pm UTC

Any fans of the Bullet Hell genre should check out the demo of Nautical Survival. The Steam page is located at:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2860990/Nautical_Survival/?curator_clanid=44986110 [External Link]

The planned release date is April 2025. The description of the game reads as follows:

Captain an armed sea vessel to fight off hordes of oceanic terrors! Explore the seas, upgrade your seacraft, equip it with weapons and hire crew members to your aid in this roguelite auto-shooter.
The setting for the game, of course, is the ocean; which adds an interesting twist to the the typical Bullet Hell gaming experience.

The developer and publisher is Idan Rooze. This will be the third game he has published on Steam. He also publishes his games on itch.io. His itch.io profile can be found at:
https://idanro.itch.io/ [External Link]

Idan's itch.io profile states he is an "...indie game developer and a Game Design lecturer at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design." He has 15 games published on his itch.io page. At the bottom of the page he also lists 21 games that are published by his students.

I have played Nautical Survival on the SteamDeck and it works very well. I consider the game demo to be generous and highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys this type of game.

Roll the dice to make crazy combos instead of collecting cards in the roguelike Die in the Dungeon

Two of my favorite Steam Deck games are Dicey Dungeons [External Link] and Dice & Fold [External Link]. These games allow a player to hop in, play for as much time as available and then jump out. Both games lend themselves well to the Steam Deck controls and the developers have invested time in making the games easily playable on the Steam Deck. Die in the Dungeon looks like something I would enjoy. It will be interesting to see if the developers of Die in the Dungeon spend the time needed to make the game play well on the Steam Deck.

Epic science fantasy roguelike Caves of Qud 1.0 is out now and it's a wild ride

I have had a desire to play this game for years. I think... "I can do this." I then go to the fantastically informative Caves of Qud Wiki [External Link]. At this point, I am still thinking "I know I can play this game! Where should I begin?" I go to random page, such as Default Controls Map [External Link]. It is then that I realize that I am much too intellectually challenged to play this game.

JSAUX released their first White 6-in-1 Docking Station for handhelds like Steam Deck
25 Nov 2024 at 10:30 pm UTC

It's usually $45.99, but they have a sale on right now so it's $42.99 until December 5th. Pretty great price really for what you get.
Being a first time customer of the website, I got an additional 15% off the price. So the final cost was $38.70. Considering that the SteamDeck Dock costs $79.00, the JSAUX is a good deal. There are certain aspects of the SteamDeck Dock that I like, e.g., the wider base and the right angle USB-C connector; but these differences are not a deal breaker for me.

The Spell Brigade is an online co-op survivor-like bullet-hell friendly-fire chaos festival

The Spell Brigade is also Steam Deck Verified.
I purchased this game a few days after it entered Early Access. I checked the Steam Deck Compatibility rating and discovered it was verified. I found this somewhat surprising. It seems to me the majority of games that have recently entered Early Access have a Steam Deck Compatibility rating of Unknown. Which makes sense.

Then I watched a YouTube gamer playing Spell Brigade on a Steam "Live" broadcast. He was playing multiplayer with three of the developers. During the broadcast, one of the developers mentioned that he keeps a Steam Deck by his desk at all times. If he wants to test a build, he grabs the Steam Deck to see how well things are working. Steam Deck Compatibility rating of verified... explained.

Slay The Princess Review: As Pristine As The Blade Cuts Deep

This game has been on my wishlist since it was released on October 2023. Having played another fantastic game developed by Black Tabby Games ( Scarlet Hollow [External Link] ), it only took the slightest nudge for me to click the Add to Cart button. Thanks for the nudge Alexa! I know I am going to enjoy playing this one. Great review!

Halls of Torment hits 1 million sales - more free updates planned
19 Oct 2024 at 2:43 am UTC Likes: 1

If I notice that a game is made with the Godot Engine, that always piques my interest. When I notice that the game is under $5.00, that also gets my attention. When I discovered that Halls of Torment was Steam Deck verified, I bought the game. It is my goto Steam Deck game when reclining in bed before going to sleep. In my limited experience, the game works flawlessly on the Steam Deck. Some people might be bothered by the "retro" graphics, but I enjoy that sense of nostalgia. Some people commented that the game is "grindy", but I have found the progression mechanics are very engaging. Of course I am only 8 hours into the game, so that may change. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys bullet-hell video games.

Windblown is the next game from the Dead Cells team
17 Oct 2024 at 10:06 pm UTC

Windblown [External Link] is being featured in Next Fest October 2024 event.

The game is being released into Early Access in a week (October 24, 2024). I played the Demo on the Steam Deck and it works very well. It is Steam Deck certified, which I find impressive for a game that has only a Demo available. After playing the Demo, I am thinking this is an instant buy upon release.
