Ehh, after 8 hours I couldn't go on. I was really interested in the car combat and customizing, but after clearing a dozen fortresses and knocking scarecrows down I hadn't progressed much. I felt good about reducing the 'enemy influence' in the area, though my heart sank when I opened the map and realized there's a ton of districts in each territory, and I realized the majority of the game experience wasn't very engaging.

I'm finding this happening a lot in the past couple years. I just can't get through open world games anymore. I enjoyed the sailing in AC: Black Flag (PS4) and some of the mechanics in Watchdogs (until I noticed stuff like the traffic jams were QTEs in disguise), but the tedium of side-quests and collectibles just wore me down.

That said, it's probably a great value for people you can 'tune-out' to and just enjoy the rhythm. For me that's currently games like Slime Rancher or Minecraft :)

The game really is quite charming :) I played several major updates ago and enjoyed my time, but decided to wait until launch to play further, hopefully that's not too far off now ^^

Valve set to replace Greenlight with Steam Direct

I share your love for Itch.io, but I disagree that Valve should seek to emulate them, at least as far as putting out new games is concerned. I think steam should be more for the creme dela creme developers, or at least ones who have their shit together :P Itch keeps it open and welcomes new and old developers alike, which is awesome, but when I go to steam and anticipate spending more money I expect more polished products.

Personally I think the fee should go for at least $500-$1000. Not a perfect solution, but I feel like it will shift a lot of the games more suited for places like Itch, like the game I'm currently developing [External Link] :B, and in turn result in a better storefront on Steam.

Just chiming in to say I've never doubted your integrity, Liam, and am happy to continue supporting you (both in spirit and my bit in the Patreon bucket ;)). From all accounts it can be murder to be in the public eye, wouldn't know myself, and despite the rougher times I think you've only gotten better at handling it :)

That said, I shan't be moved from my Linux Mint stoop 'till it catches fire :P

Looks like FPS game 'Squad' might be coming to Linux soon

Not the most inspired name is it?

Squad. I hope they release a shoot-em-up in the future, they could call it Bullets :P

This stuff always makes me think of The Witness (played it on PS4), and how amazing it is that games can teach us so many systems, sometimes without even words. Though the thought of pouring over a manual appeals to me less, so the 'RTFM' in the logo sends me right off. That said, glad these games are out there for those willing, I'm sure the feeling of mastery from these games must be grand :D

And I have played HRM, and as a rookie programmer I thought it was really cool ^^

ZeniMax are flexing their legal muscles towards DoomRL

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this stuff only tended to happened when it involved a commercial product with 'demonstrative value'? If the game is free it's not even really commercial, yeah?

For the price I can hardly turn it down; maybe I'll check it out once I'm done revisiting Rogue Legacy ^^

Quoting: KeyrockI guess I'm surprised that someone liked Zelda 2 enough to make a game that looks so nearly identical to it, as Zelda 2 is kind of the red headed step child of the series.
I feel like carving out old niches is what that Pittman lad does best :P
