I was thinking to try proton, but my character and world does not appear when I switch to proton. So I went back without testing, because I do not want to override my character accidentally.
EDIT: Tried Proton. It is worse , I get about 30-50FPS in Proton. So all HAIL the native version :-)

Quoting: IcefinitySo is that more a problem with the Linux version?Quoting: einherjarOnly thing that I can criticize is the low FPS I get. With a 1070Ti on 1440p I get about 50-70 FPS.It has some limitations cause of the Unity game engine in regards to performance.
PS: It is my first purchase on release day since Gothic 3, and I am pleased :-)
I see they optimised the game decently tho , using small size textures (hence the stretch/low quality look on rocks, far skybox, bushes etc) and also low poly environment coupled with grass sprite and not grass meshes (that look more realistic but consume more resources).
They tried to compensate by adding post processing effects like blur/depth of field, bloom etc to make the environment not look so low poly/low sized.

Very recommendable IMHO.
I play it with my son and in 6 hours of gameplay we had no bugs or crashes.
The lighting in the game in very well made. Thunderstruck and fog is incredibly good for example.
One should disable bloom and Depth of Field and Chromatic Abberations. They all do make the graphic worse IMHO (in all games).
Only thing that I can criticize is the low FPS I get. With a 1070Ti on 1440p I get about 50-70 FPS.
But the game is very cheap for what it offers.
HAIL ODIN!

I would not care if it is not perfectly optimized in EA, if it is fun.

Quoting: InterknetTried the beta, had no desire to really play it because it performed pretty poor, more so than I recall the public version did.Is it too demanding CPU/GPU wise or is it not fun?
Hopefully that's ironed out when it releases on Steam, seems like it should be a lot less demanding to run than it is

They have humor, if they say things like that.

Quoting: ShmerlNo it is a funny one, isn't it.Quoting: elmapulepic games "fighting against exclusivity" and monopolization of pc games. That's a strange one, given Epic are signing exclusive contracts. They are on the wrong side of things.

Quoting: ShmerlA pity the author pulled itch.io release because of IPv4 NAT problems that he solves by using Steam-only service.Steam is fine for me.
The game was quite fun.

Epic Games has acquired RAD Game Tools so they now own Bink video and more

Quoting: MordragI am sure that the decision was not soley based upon epic games hating linux.I think, Linux is just collateral damage. They do not really care about it. They do not hate Linux, but they give a shit about that 1% of Linux gaming people.

If they lock their IDEs/Assets/Tools down to EPIC store, which is not on Linux, then there will be less games working on Linux.
Even Linux native Titles will not be present any more.
So that may be (perhaps this does never happen), a massive damage to Linux gaming.

Quoting: DribbleondoHow would Linux games be collateral, exactly?Easy to see, isn't it?

1. All tools/assets needed to develop games with big market share are being bought. Or at least influenced as much as possible.
2. Include them in an ecosystem (Unreal Engine as base)
3. Lock it down to Epic Games Store or at least make it hard and expensive to publish somewhere else.
Linux gamers will of course only be collateral damage.

Quoting: DribbleondoIt looks to me like they are building up an ecosystem, to then lock it down:Quoting: BreizhWhy would they? If EAC and other acquisitions are to go by, they have no interest in locking SDK's and services pertinent to other game engines to their platform because if anything, it helps them. They indirectly benefit from contracts made by RAD and others. The good news is that Epic will not be locking it down to their systemsfor now.*

So they are building up a monopoly.
Everyone knows what companies like this do, when they have enough power/marketshare. They lock up things to erase competition.
So I consider this bad new not only for Linux gamers.
But in fact it will harm us the most. Openess and freedom are the first things to go down the drain.

Thanks that you did not recommend Manjaro to beginners.
My son is actually switching back to Kubuntu.
Within 2 month he has to reinstall the 2nd time, because Manjaro does not start after an update is made.
"enjoy the simplicity" ???
LOL!
I am using Linux since 1998 and can not remember when (or even if ever) I had such an issue the last time with Ubuntu, Kubuntu or openSuse.
