Another great one from devs with nice Linux support:

Pushing for DRM-free games is understandable, but, in my opinion, it's also unreasonable in this day and age when looking to make a living out of a product, especially as an indie-developper team of three.
I don't really see the logic in that. DRM hasn't been proven to curb piracy and often just the challenge of breaking the DRM is enough for something to get pirated. I think "more stores = more sale opportunities" makes a lot more sense, especially when we're talking indie games and itch.
More stores will also mean more work and more bound ressources. And small indies often have a hole lot of work and I fully understand, when the just go to steam, where the most potential customers are. (BTW Steam does not automatically mean DRM)
So if that is a reason for some people to not buy a game only because of that - sorry but I don not understand that.

Quoting: GrimfistHad the demo on Itch, it was okayish. I have a fable for Norse mythology but as such I was not particullary impressed by the game. But since it has vanished from Itch I didn't care anymore.
I will happily support a dev that supports Linux and makes a good game. We, "the 1%", can be happy about every Linux native game that is given to us.

Whining like "it is not on itch so I won't buy", "without gog release I won't buy", "gog release has not all multiplayer functions like the steam version, I won't buy" etc is annoying and leads us no where. At least not to a reasonable marketshare or to more native games on Linux.

Steam has a Summer of Pride 2020 sale and event going on

Quoting: Liam Dawe@einherjar, I honestly can't tell if you're trolling at this point to cause a fuss or just terribly ignorant. I would urge you to go read up on some history of why Pride is an event. As others have pointed out already, very clearly, there's serious reasons why it exists.
Of course there can only be one correct opinion on the subject. That I did not understand this immediately is of course very stupid, ignorant and also intolerant of me.Perhaps also *phob or so, I am not sure. May the beholders of the one and only tolerant and correct opinion forgive me.
I apology.

It was indeed absolutely not ok, to wonder why people are proud on their gender or sexual orientation. And asking why, was even worse.Probably it is a mental disorder of mine, that I am not proud on being hetero. That disorder is surely the reason, why I am ignorant and did not understand.

I will try not to write anything in this context on GOL anymore.

I'm not really sure why people are conflating race with it.

...
OMG, what race are you talking about?

Why wouldn't you?
Why would you? Honestly, I never understood, why someone should be proud on his gender or sexual orientation. I am white and hetero, but why should I be proud because of that? This is not an achievement to be proud of.

It is kinda the same category of people who say: "I am proud to be german" or "I am proud to be white" --> When I hear things like that, I always think: "Did you achieve that by your own hard work, so that you can be proud of that?"
I don't get it.

Quoting: ZlopezIt's nice when everybody is talking about diversity and equality and the pride month is only for LGBTQIA+. I just find this funny :-D
I'm guessing it's those who have suffered from inequality who have to start such movements, no?

We could also make a Linuxgamer Pride Month. Judging by the amount of aggression and jokes that linuxgamers have to suffer whenever they uncloak in a "normal" gamer environment, it might even be worth it
That seems to vary where you "uncloak". My steam name contains [on LINUX] and I often got positive feedback in CS:GO teamchat. It goes from interested to "what CS:GO can really be played on Linux? - cool!" I was never insulted because of using Linux there.
Sometimes in forums I see people complaining about "Idiots on mediocre OS" or similar things. But I do not care a lot. I stay friendly or ignore it.

The Steam Spring Cleaning event is up to get you to play your old games

TBH to me they seem often to be absolutely useless. But if it is fun for people, why not.
Useful for what? It's a rather vague criticism. What aspect of gaming and the entertainment industry isn't useless. That idea to could extrapolated until we arrive at Nihilism. So, what expectation for usefulness from the did you have in the first place?

To clarify, I find these events fun because they prompt users to install games in their library that have seen little or no play time. An interesting aspect is the arbitrary categories they choose to group games in. Their AI that chooses the titles based on user interests as it applies to that category.

The other reason I like this event is because it's about playing what has already been purchased, not pushing people to spend more money in the store.
OK, to be more precise - it is useless for me. It is not fun for me, nor do I get something for it. If it is fun for others, it is useful for them.
