All this talk skewed off topic...I'm more concerned with Epic's lack of focus on safety (account security/etc).
I'm sure the streaming service will be its own headline, so I'll just keep it short and say that this is the start of another market to be heavily influenced by giant corporations' greed.

mmmm idk I probably won't pull the trigger when there are 50+ titles on my wish-list that'd probably end up being more entertaining for the ~20 usd.

Intel begins talking up their open source efforts for their upcoming dedicated GPU
21 Feb 2019 at 7:52 pm UTC
intel is VERY, very late to the deep learning/A.I. market, which is the current blooming market, but they're sure to start there. This isn't a "more fps than your competitor's" battle.

Quoting: LinasI bet these will not be for gaming, but rather scaled up versions of their integrated GPUs. Something that is good for compute and workstation tasks. Will probably see these mostly on business workstations. Pure speculation, though. :whistle:That's 110% likely going to be case. Despite us certainly making the gpu manufacturer's money, the fact is that the computer/tech industry is primarily focused on the enterprise. Servers alone make the large majority of intel's revenue. Nvidia's making hundreds of thousands, if not millions, per sale over that of their RTX products (these include machine learning, A.I., deep learning, etc). All these products have release cycles that begin with their "workstation" prototype: i.e. Nvidia's volta gpus; everything else is basically a cut-down version of it. We get leftovers, per se.
Right now I am very happy with AMD. The drivers keep getting better, so I think we have not seen the full potential of what AMD can do on Linux yet.

Quoting: Xaero_VincentIf GVT-g is supported with their consumer discrete cards like their iGPUs now, then I'll definitely consider one in my next build. This is EXACTLY what came to mind at first. Let's hope intel doesn't decide to segment the market and limit the product's capabilities like Nvidia does with their Titan that's marketed as a research gpu but has none of the features that most researchers would need. Give us full control of the hardware and I'm sold.

I wonder if we're now, or will, at some point, be able to trade with other players cross-platform. Good to see them making use of all that crate money. Love the game but I'm still a little bothered by their lack of quality of life features; they seem to be trying to fix the biggest problem at least.
I'm hoping they move everything to vulkan. It'd be nice.

I was, not long ago, wondering when they'd start something new. I'm still wary of finishing the first one as it'll leave a gap...I will purchase this when its out. Good luck to the team.

Dead cells is a flawless game from the genre. It earned a spot in my "to-buy" list. Game looks good to me.

As some may already know, Nvidia, while aggressive (in every possible way), does NOT wish to open their source code for their drivers unlike AMD who does. However, AMD does offer closed source packages to Ubuntu via .deb packages to support their products via the AMDPRO (or w/e it's called) driver.
I've heard that the AMD drivers exchange blows in a few games but overall the open source driver works great. This will likely move on to improve as (or if) Vulkan gets adopted.
I'm not defending Nvidia but the option is available for those who don't fully embrace the open source philosophy.
ps: gratz and enjoy the AMD cards, they last til the pcb rots ;)

Quoting: subJust giving my 2 cents on this matter:
That's great. :)
Happy AMD user here.
Last Nvidia card was a 6600 GT.
Never looked back.
