Microsoft leak shows Fallout 3 and Oblivion Remasters, DOOM Year Zero and more

I've more or less finished playing Fallout 3 for the first time and unless they fix the code to stop it crashing every five minutes, then stick with the original (cheaper), as you'll have to mod it for a stable play through anyway and there's a plethora of QOL and graphic enhancement mods to choose from.

Interesting... I'm reading and seeing those release dates and thinking was it really that long ago? And the further forward I scroll, the less games I own!

Happy Birthday to Steam as it turned 20 today

I just logged in to check... 18 years! The Orange Box was my introduction to Steam as well. I had a lot of fun playing Day Of Defeat (pre Source) back then.

Quoting: Solitary...The question if its worth to play any other... well, I would say FC3 is still worth it as it cemented the formula. Then there is Far Cry Blood Dragon, which is also plenty fun (spin-off FC3 with parody 80s sci-fi craziness).

And that's about it, FC4 is not bad, but doesn't do anything new... and I haven't played FC5, but I got FC6 for free with new AMD hardware and I would say that free is about right price (even though I still question if the time spent was worth it). If anyone said its on sale for 50 cents, I still would not recommend it.

Cheers, I'll check those out when I can get around to it... so much backlog it's crazy!

Talking of Far Cry 2... I'm not sure if I played this years ago or the first one but are any of the later ones (3 on) worth playing? This is the sort of game I don't mind picking up to play through Proton, as they're often good games and dirt cheap after all these years.

Quoting: EikeThat's what wokeness is all about. The difference is that it nowadays includes people that the Sixties didn't think about (like transgender), and it actually asks for the same rights (like gay marriage). But you can't have equality and fairness without including everybody.

That's not wokeness. Fairness and equality is just basic common sense and decency.

Wokeness is transgender men competing in women's sport and supporters of it screaming you down if you dare to have an opposing view, for example. This is not the place for this discussion though.

Quoting: fabertaweI detest woke but I can't say I've picked up on much in the new Star Wars stuff. If there is any it hasn't detracted from my enjoyment of it as great sci-fi. Star Trek on the other hand is packed with it.
Star Trek has been "woke" since the 60s. That's what it's always been about at the core--equality among all intelligences of whatever race, gender or species, human rights for all, difficult questions about how to get the law to be just but respect persons and such like ethical conundrums. It's when they forget about that stuff and turn it into a shoot-em-up that it goes off the rails. Not that there can't be a good deal of violence in a good Star Trek bit--but it has to be grounded in something.

I get your "point" but I don't consider 60s Star Trek "woke" at all. Far from it. Sixties Star Trek is one of my most beloved 70s childhood TV memories (and what great theme music btw). There is a massive difference between what 60s Star Trek stood for (the vision of equality and fairness) and the madness that's going on today. Anyway, enough off-topic.

I hope that's sarcasm, because the Star Wars franchise has been in the toilet ever since George Lucas made the mistake of selling to Disney.

No, not sarcasm. What's your problem with it?

I'm not going to get in a long, involved discussion about it, but "boring, woke trash" is probably the best description of Disney Star Wars. To be fair, modern Star Trek isn't much better.

I detest woke but I can't say I've picked up on much in the new Star Wars stuff. If there is any it hasn't detracted from my enjoyment of it as great sci-fi. Star Trek on the other hand is packed with it. The only one I wasn't fussed for was the "Obi Wan" series, I just found it a bit dull, otherwise I'm loving it all.

Quoting: ElectricPrism...I mean. Star Trek has been dead to me for a while now.. especially after the "ActionMan" movies painted Picard as a psychopathic killer instead of a wise diplomat sage....

Star Trek has been action schlock for a while now.

I guess AI/Neural Networks are our only hope or restoring it to its pristine original form about showing moral conundrums and navigating ethically complex situations objectively.

I've finally given up on it after Strange New Worlds had a dancing Klingon boy band - that episode was actually embarrassing. I thought the first series of Discovery was good but it's been going rapidly downhill since. No comparison with the excellent Star Wars stuff that's ongoing.
