Just swapped my RX 6600 for an XFX RX 9060 XT (16 GB), almost doubling performance (3x in Blender), so been looking forward to this release

Fair play for thinking that one up!

I tried this with Stalker 2 - lower frame rate and very jittery. Might be missing something but went back to Proton 10 and everything lovely and smooth again.

"last played Dec 20, 2014" :dizzy: Damn you backlog! I can't even remember it.

It looks super complicated and hard but at least there are options according to the video. I don't like too hard a challenge and anything too frenetic. How do you all rate this game?

Well colour me very pleasantly surprised... graphic settings medium, FSR on, upscaler XeSS "quality" - around 75fps! I did reduce motion blur to zero. It seems the lower you go the more noticeable the shadow quality gets. I think I've managed to get it looking ok.

I'm postponing a new GPU anyway

Well I bought the base version in the Steam sale, so it's time to see if I can get double digit FPS on minimum low settings on my RX 6600

If not, it's a push to a new GPU!

Ehvis - "Once again demonstrating that you're better off waiting a year. You'll get a better game for less money."

This ^. It's been years since I played the Stalker games originally and I'm currently enjoying replaying them. Playing CopEE at the moment, having recently played the others (in release order). It's fantastic and easily the best of the original trilogy (SoC was great, CS "meh"). The "enhanced" editions run buttery smooth at 60 fps (I like power saving) and I don't get all the "blurry" complaints, it looks great to me.

I'd love a new updated Stalker experience but I'll wait until it's polished and cheaper. How does the new game compare to the originals, gameplay-wise, BTW?

How bizarre, I seem to be missing the reply button. Oh well...

@Drakker - I've been using r2modman for a long time with Valheim, never had a problem.

@d3Xt3r - I want the Linux native option, ironically  but thanks for the info.

I modded Fallout 3 "by hand" and whilst it was good fun, it was also very time consuming and I'd rather do FNV using Nexus Mods! So still waiting...

I had the originals so I thought I'd try "Shadow Of Chornobyl". I had the crash as well (desktop), so used "-nointro". Sounds like there may be an intro video I missed in that case, so I'll try "SteamDeck=1", thanks. I used Proton 9.

Looked fine to me and runs fluidly on my RX 6600 on high settings at over 70 fps. Good enough for me. I don't know what the almighty fuss about it being blurry is about.

Is there any point to the FSR option? It was off by default.

Edit: one incredibly annoying thing I did notice - I couldn't assign mouse buttons in the controls.
